The Elsecar HeritageCentre is free to visit and is well worthy of a visit if you are interested in the local history of the area. Whilst there are obvious Museum style items such as fully restored Steam Locomotive Engines in the Steam Railways section, one such example even occupies the main Courtyard, there are more unusual features to be found here to.

Almond ValleyHeritageCentre is a working Farm in West Lothian. Many people know it as Livingston Mill!
To get there you take Junction 3 off the M8 and follow the signs for Almond Valley. It is roughly 15 miles from Edinburgh and about 30 miles from Glasgow.
Almond Valley is open every day apart from 25/26 December and 1/2 January. The opening times are 10am - 5pm. The admission charges are £3 for an adult and children aged 3-16 years at £2! Family tickets are available from £10. Educational, community and caring groups can apply for a years membership, which costs £10 and then admission costs from £1 per person.
Groups who are going can prebook and get a generous discount and also book trailer rides round the farm and also the train if it is on at that point.
Parties can also be held here at a cost of £5.50 per child ...

I thought that I knew about all of the Museums in my home City of Sheffield so I was recently surprised to hear about The Traditional HeritageMuseum for the very first time.
This Museum is located within a former Church building on Eccleshall Road, about half a mile outside the City Centre. It has often been referred to as "Sheffield's Secret Museum" and since I had never heard of it until a couple of weeks ago I guess that this name is rather appropriate.
This Museum houses a fascinating collection of artefacts from everyday life that have been collected over the last fifty years. The main theme of the collections is to recreate the City as it would have looked between 1850 and 1950. This has been done by reconstructing original shop fronts and fitting them out with typical equipment from that period.
