The Valley of the Kings |

We went to the Valley of the kings whilst on a day trip to Luxor. On entering the valley of the kings i was surprised to see that there were just rocks and hills and some passages leading into the tombs, i had i suppose expected there to be perhaps a museum walkthough or more information about the valley of the kings.
We had a guide and i think it is best to go as a part of a day trip as our guide told us which were the best tombs to go in. We went in the tombs of Rameses 1st, 3rd and 6th. We didn't go into the tomb of Tutan Kharmon as there is nothing in there and yet this is probably the most famous of the tombs. All of Tutankhamun's finds were in the museum at Cairo.
You can pay for 3 tombs and we found this the best option which was 55 L.E.(£5.50) As i say i would always recommend going on an organised trip with a guide. Ours was very good and explained alot of the history which we wouldn't have known if we had gone on our own. The trip we found was in one of the travel shops in Hurghada which was 230 L.E (£23). If we had gone through our hotel it would have been £45 for each of us

Hiya! its so great that your enthusiastic about the area and experience, but a little bit more information would help, say, about the area in general, how you first got introduced to it, what your impressions were, a breakdown of the tours, what the weather was like, any helpful tips etc. I'd love to re-rate this if you decide to edit it, or if you need any help just give me a bell in my guestbook!
