Queen of the Valley

Advantages: Interesting, very interesting!
Disadvantages: The most famous tomb is now closed.

...then?~

The Valley of the Queens is the burial site for the Queens & children of the Pharaohs of the 18th, 19th & 20th dynasties (1550 - 1070BC). It is said that there are about 70 (some claim as many as 85) different burial sites in the area.

Probably the most famous tomb here is that of Queen Nefertari*, which is the largest and most spectacular in the valley. Unfortunately, this tomb is now no longer open, we were ...
...there~

The Valley of the Queens is a short distance from the Valley of the Kings, just the other side of Queen Hatshepsut's Burial Temple (see my last review Queen of Hats & Cheap Suits). Getting there would generally be by coach or taxi and it is probably about 20 mins from Luxor.

As this site was included as part of our trip, we took the coach from Queen Hatshepsut's temple to the Valley of the Queens, this took us ... more

Luxor Experience

Advantages: Its in EYGPT
Disadvantages: Street Sellers

Goin on holiday to Luxor was a once in a life time experience. My family visited many attractions like the temples and the general area's around our hotel. Whe stayed in the centre of luxor and were treated to a gorgeous veiw of the nile. The weather was hot, hot, hot and was sometimes over whelming. Lets just say if there's a lot of sand; you'll need a lot of water. We stayed at the Prymasia Isis Hotel it was nice but you felt slightly trapped. As soon as you stepped out side the door you were bombarded by street sellers. We were all advied about bartaring for good value and went on many exursions around luxor to the valley of kings and the valley of the queens. The collosus statues were very memorable as they literally towerd over us.(MUST HAVE BEEN A TALL MODEL POSING.) over all it's a brilliant experience and i hope people reading this ...

A relaxing place to do some exploring

Advantages: Get to learn alot
Disadvantages: Not much nightlife

Luxor is a brilliant place to relax and to get the chance to see ancient archieology and also to learn a thing or two! If you have always wanted to go to Egypt, then go to Luxor. There is alot to do and alot to learn. I went in Nov 07 and had a brilliant time. We stayed in a 5 star hotel for 2 weeks, which was situated right on the River Nile! We could dip our feet in the River Nile without leaving our hotel! How amazing. Attractions In Luxor The Valley of the Kings and The Valley of the Queens were definately the highlights of the trip. This is where explorers found all the tombs of the ancient kings and queens of Egypt. Each tomb would tell a story of how the royal had lived as they would be buried with their valuables and stories. Some of the tombs had traps to defer thieves from gettin into them, and in alot of cases these ...

ENCHANTING EGYPT

Advantages: amazing country!! lots to see and do
Disadvantages: bash to tourism after masacre

bottles of water and protect yourself from the sun. Dont follow our example and go at the hottest time of year! Also you must dress sensibly because Egypt is a Muslim country. During our stay we visited many ancient temples and the famous 'valley of the kings' and 'valley of the queens'. You really need to see them to appreciate how amzing they are, the sheer size and craftmanship that has gone into them. The hieroglyphs were magical and the massive statues breath-taking. I have to admit that it was a bit scary walking around the towns without a tour guide to show you around- the people were friendly enough but we felt like aliens. It was fascinating to see how people from other cultures live, it was also very romantic to watch the hubub of everyday life from our ship and hear the haunting call to prayers from the Minarets ...
