. It sits down below the level of the railway and motorway so any noise tends to pass over it. The trains, though frequent, are fairly quiet. All the rooms are double-glazed (and air-conditioned) so you can keep the windows closed and not hear a thing. There is a Chinese-style garden at one side, full of shrubbery, ponds, paths, little bridges and gazebos where no noise seems to impinge at all.

It is part of the VanderValk chain (da-da-da-DUM for those of you who remember the eponymous 1970s Dutch detective series; for those of you who don't, you didn't miss anything). The film begins like a traditional Universal creature feature in atmospheric black and white, with Frankenstein trying to bring his creature to life while the villagers advance on the castle with pitchforks and blazing torches. There?s even the cry of ?It?s alive!? and plenty of Vander Graaf generators humming away in the background. It?s a nice back story for one of the star monsters that segues into the film?s present where we walk in on Van Helsing finishing off an assignment (à la Indiana Jones) and Dr Jekyll?s other half.
