Granville Island Hotel
Review of Granville Island Hotel, Vancouver by robinwhybrow

Advantages: scenic setting, great bar
Disadvantages: difficult location by public transit

...in the rooms of the Granville Island Hotel, so do not observe the ratings below as a reflection of the rooms. I have eaten in their bar, and I know the area well, so I am writing this review to help potential visitors who do not know the city of Vancouver. THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Quaint Granville Island has a massive public market where produce and prepared foods are available en masse. There is a thriving local theatre community in the summertime, and ...
...Vancouver. THE DRAWBACKS: Granville Island is not easily accessible by public transport. There is a parking lot at the hotel, so for people who are happy to rent a car, this isn't a problem. OVERALL: A place I could well end up staying one time. (I will certainly amend this review if I do!) I wouldn't stay there in winter, because the community is most alive in the summer. ... A Luxurious Stay In Vancouver
Review of Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver, Vancouver by robinwhybrow

Advantages: great work-out space, accommodating staff, spacious rooms
Disadvantages: room service choices too limited

...$25/day plus taxes and gratuities. PRICE: Shop around, because while the rack rates for the Metropolitan tend to be quite high (in the $300/night range), my husband and I recently stayed in a deluxe king room for $169/night, and felt like we got the bargain of the century. ... Read review

The place to stay in Vancouver
Review of The Fairmont Waterfront, Vancouver by mashpuma

Advantages: Fabulous location and style
Disadvantages: New buidings encroaching, high price

I have stayed in the Fairmont Waterfront several times, including 2 stays on the Gold floor. The reception area is really impressive, and a great place to sit if you have a few minutes. Check in is slick and welcoming - even better if you are booked on the Gold floor as you go straight up there, and book in in with the special concierge. All the rooms that I have stayed in are huge, with great view of the Waterfront, although the views are becoming ...
...is all now complete. The concierge service on the Gold floor is quite amazing, with the staff always ready to help and advise - including getting bookings in "full" restaurants etc. Breakfast on the Gold floor is great - but even better if you eat in the main restaurant downstairs. Dinner is also good in the restaurant - but I would always recommend walking around the city to eat in one of the hundreds of great places available. Just to mention a ... Read review

Le Crappe
Review of Le Soleil Hotel and Suites, Vancouver by robinwhybrow

Advantages: Every room is a mini-suite
Disadvantages: lousy food, smarmy service

Every time I pass Le Soleil, I shudder to remember the terrible service. It's a shame, because the hotel is nicely appointed, the prices are reasonable, the location is central, and the rooms are extremely comfortable. But I will not be back. THE ROOMS: Every room is a suite, which means that for the same price as a regular hotel room, you get a bedroom and a separate living room. We paid $139, which was a crazy internet special, but rates tend ...
...Vancouver's West End business district, Le Soleil is on Hornby Street, close to the Art Gallery, Robson Street shopping, and about a 15 minute walk from Stanley Park. THE LOBBY: Grand and elegant, in a faux old-style ballroom finish. The doormen are dressed in coats and tails and top hats. It borders between grand and comical. THE SERVICE: The man at the front desk is one of those pushy, overbearing flamers that would be comedic if we didn't have ... Read review

Pre-cruise stay
Review of Days Inn - Vancouver Downtown, Vancouver by blake90

Advantages: close to cruise terminal; comfortable bed, housekeeping
Disadvantages: Limited restaurant facilities; no room service; noise - air con; laundry room;ice machine

Stayed here on two nights on separate occasions. First, the night before embarking on a cruise. Secondly, when we booked a last minute room after being disappointed with another hotel in Vancouver. Lobby staff were professional and efficient. Rooms are compact but with good amenities: coffee percolator, fridge, complimentary bottled water. Flat screen TV. Air con a little too efficient as hard to regulate temperature and noisy. The standard of the ... Read review
