The Vatican

Advantages: Must-go for catholics
Disadvantages: No

As a Catholic, going to Vatican is like going to Mecca for Muslims or the Ganges for the Hindus. It's been my dream since my baptism. The Vatican's 44 hectares of land make it the smallest state in the world but the biggest tourist attraction. It is an independent state and the headquarter of the Catholic church and home to the current Pope. The Vatican museum is a must-go when visiting Vatican. It contains the finest classical and Renaissance art and Greek and Roman antique. After the museum, the next most amazing place to visit is the Sistine's Chapel. It is famous for the Michaelangelo's frescoes on the barrel-vaulted ceiling and his Last Judgment on the end wall. The part that I remember most in the whole frescoes is picture on Adam and God(Adam and God both hold out their hands and their fingers nearly touch). I have watched ...

Vatican Museum

Advantages: Unique
Disadvantages: 4 miles plus

Did I really want to go to the Vatican Museum? Expecting nothing I took the metro to Ottaviano. It was not difficult to know which way to go, I just followed the crowds and after about five minutes I was confronted with the huge walls of the Vatican City. Signs point you in the right direction, which is following the wall up a gentle slope to the entrance of the Museum. The first thing that struck me was how modern the interior was the second was the length of the queue (about 40 mins). While waiting in line you get a taste of how efficiently run the Vatican is, this was the only museum in Italy where the staff seemed not only regimented but very neatly turned out in a Vatican uniform. Unlike all the other museums around Italy there is no free entrance for students, although I did try. There are over four miles ...

Review of The Vatican Museums

To Roam aroun Rome by a Roma Pass!

Advantages: Queue jumping, don't have to worry about entrance fees
Disadvantages: Can not be cost effective

Transport and 2 Museums free of charge as well as Reductions for all other museums and major events." I was sold, I should of perhaps checked the prices of the attractions. I'm not much of a museum go'er and would rather see architecture etc, although I do like museums, we did not opt to visit any whilst in Rome (except the Vatican Museum - but then that isn't in Rome is it.) IMPORTANT NOTE: The Roma Pass can NOT be used in Vatican City. When we arrived in Rome, we headed for Termini Station as we knew we could purchase a Roma Pass here as well as a bus ticket. We walked around Termini Station for a good half an hour looking for a desk or something, anything that indicated the Roma Pass was sold there. After an hour we headed back outside to the bus stop, we asked how much the tickets were, and knew you got a discount with the Roma ...
