Advantages: Close to the Strip Disadvantages: Seems a little grand at times
We visited Vegas first in 2000 and we were absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of this hotel, it was so impressive i was literally shell shocked.
The hotel is absoluely spotless, it just oozes opulence and can be a little intimidating for the average traveller but if you can afford the little extra and it is a special trip - do book to stay here. Even if you can only afford one or two nights it is so worth it.
...a day and it is totally wicked to sit and listen, eating a pastry ,drinking coffee.
One of the very very best things is the canal for about $20 you and a partner or friend can be treated to a gondola ride along the canal that is inside the hotel (yes inside!!!!). Half way round you are treated to a couple of verses of "O sole mio" oh it is superb. I felt just like royalty and came out of there vowing to return. Which i did ... more

The grand hall has free opera shows three times a day and it is totally wicked to sit and listen, eating a pastry ,drinking coffee.

Advice : Book early Rooms: Cheaper midweek as Americans fly to Vegas for the weekend. Bargains: Online Casinos: Sign up for the comps card - you can get free meals, shows, limo rides all for just playing on the machines There are so many games to play you will be spolit for choice, Blackjack, Roulette, Keno you name it they got it. Slots are a lot of fun you can play anyhting from 5 cents to 5 dollars the possilbilites are endless. If you like a bit of a light flutter you are spoilt for choice ie you can chase mad frogs, rescue princess's whatever floats your boat. BUT be warned gambling is addictive set yourself a limit and stick to it as it is so easy to just feed the machines. Another helpful hint is that in Las Vegas there are no windows or clocks in the Casinos this is to lull you into forgetting the time, nothing ever shuts - you have been warned time goes so quickly when you are having a good time and so does your cash.
FOOD: well you name it you can get it, if you want a light burger its there, you have the full range all the way up to a la carte and speciality restaurants. All you can eat buffets are well worth visiting but they are a little like a cattle market and the food is not always that good at them. It is usually better to pay a little more and get a great meal rather than go for the cheap option aend up with a good meal.
Drinks: Free if you are playing on the slots, just drop a dollar a drink on the cocktail waitress's tray
Tipping: it is if you the norm to tip 15% of the bill, but if you aren't happy with the service dont tip them!
The hotel is like all others in Vegas, it offers theatres, shows, shops, restaurants. Full gymnasium, beauty therapy, hairdressers, it is a complete world in itself.
Be warned the shops are designer ones and the prices are not for the fainthearted so take your husband or his credit card.

...trip was to gamble. The Venetian is right up there with the best of them. Prices are much the same as the rest of on strip Vegas, although the Venetian would probably be towards the dearer end of the scale. Like all hotels though, you can get deals at various times of the year and so the price fluctuates.
The floor is massive, and at first I was getting lost all the time, All Vegas casino floors are jam packed with slots, which as a "European" gambler, ... ...The Venetian is great for roulette as it has a European wheel table and unlike other casinos, all the roulette tables are in one place so you can have a wander round and watch people gambling as well as going in yourself.
For me, half the fun of Vegas is watching others gamble, and so being able to wander round all the tables which line all the main walkways was great fun for me. But roulette is my preference so Venetian wins hands down for this ...

Advantages: Safe and secure great facilities very luxurious suites extremely comfortable. Disadvantages: Time share touts in all the hotels in Las Vegas.
tasteful indeed. The towels are white soft and fluffy and a couple of dressing gowns in the wardrobe.
The rooms are very comfortable and are a peaceful haven away from the phrenetic pace of LasVegas and the casino. However the hotel management don?t want you in your room they want you out and spending your money.
The casino is a resort and it has swimming pool areas which are tastefully designed all in keeping with the Italian theme with columns and statues of Roman goddesses, privet topiary all over the place making it feel as if you are somewhere in Italy.
The facilities inside the resort are amazing. Along the canal there are various shops selling quite expensive clothes art work and all kinds of upmarket things. The ceiling is painted light blue with fluffy white clouds giving you the impression that you are outside although you ...
Advantages: Amazing building Disadvantages: Art is secondary to the building
of the white box concept of a gallery and create a space which would be as stimulating as the art within. A concept which was first explored in the creation of the Guggenheim Museum.
