My Venice experience
Review of Venice (Italy) by medgenie

Advantages: A must-go city to visit in Italy, before it disappear!!!
Disadvantages: No

My first trip to Venice was via a package holiday. We spent a day there and I am going to share with you my fantastic day. We had an early start. by taking the train from the station behind the hotel to catch a boat to take us on the Grand Canal(Canal Grande) to the St Martin's Square(Piazza San Macro) in the centre of Venice. Got off the boat to take a walk on the waterfront-I could already see the gondolas parked. Venice is a very special city ...
...would walk pass to see Venice for the last time before being locked in prison-hence the name Bridge of Sights. Walking across the piazza, we came to the school of Lace. It became a dead art about 20 years ago but the Italian government invested in the area and hence the school to keep the old tradition. Venice is famous for its lace, especially in the Renaissance period when she was an important financial and political port. Lace is an luxurious ... Read review

Off the track in Venice
Review of Al Marca, Venice by bostonianbeer

Advantages: Known by few other than locals.
Disadvantages: I am telling you.

...year we came across the Al Marca bar. Catch the vaporetti along the Grand Canal and get off at the Mercato di Rialto stop. You could get off at the Rialto Bridge stop and walk over the bridge and into the square but the Mercato stop leads you directly into the square. Any time during the day there are people at the bar milling about with a coffee, la umbro, (a small wine) or a beer. As it is next to the Court of Justice it is busy, busy, busy but ...
...bench and soak up Venice watch the Venetian's going about their business away from St. Mark's and the bustle of the day trippers. Call back in the evening and you will see a view so different from the day time. It is a treat to see people being responsible with their drink, not binge drinking and getting out of their faces on the stuff. We called there every night and joined them for a Campari and soda with a queen olive, or they do have a softer ... Read review

VENICE ROMANTIC CITY
Review of Venice (Italy) by poshtroika

Advantages: LOVERS
Disadvantages: Can not go more often.

Arrived at Venice Marco Polo Airport last Wednesday 12th March 16:30. Took second cheapest option to get to Venice Island, 3 Euros on the express Blue Coach to Piazza Roma at the end of the Grand Canal. Then bought a 72 Hour Ticket for 31 Euros, the 72 hours begins when you first validate so ideal for us returning on Sat. The ticket covers all your Vaperreto trips even out to the smaller islands Murano, Burano and Torchelli. Also if you use City ...
...the boring part. Now my Venice Experience. I boarded Vaperreto Number 1, sat down and then looked into her eyes. Its at times like these that thoughts run thru your mind , what will I ever do when I no longer have her. There in front of me is this beauty that stirs my soul, my blood feels warm as it courses just that bit quicker thru my viens. I can hear my heart thumping that bit quicker as her beauty envelopes me. I am no longer a man of 57 ... Read review

Venice Carnival
Review of Venice (Italy) by bostonianbeer

Advantages: Wonderful colour, sights and sounds.
Disadvantages: Never known one.

...the one you love. Venice is my personal favourite holiday visit. If I could I would live there. We have visited Venice for the past seven years and we go again in March 08. We stay at the Loccanda Remidio Columbina just at the back of St. Mark's Square and on the canal with the Bridge of Sighs. Six of us in 2004 visited the Venice Carnival and dressed for the occasion. The "Theme" was "The Silk Road." It was in Feb 2004 and we had snow, and rain, ...
...25 years. Our visit to Venice was never complete without visiting there. Whilst in Venice if it is your only trip then we would advise you to visit the island of Murano and Burano, both enjoyable and so different to each other, one for glass and one for lace. We tend to go to Murano (glass) first and then onto Burano and stay there for lunch usually in the sunshine. If you have time there is always Torchello to visit but it is a long walk to the ...
