Amoung the canals of venice
Review of Best Western Cavalletto E Doge Orseolo, Venice by Garth87

Advantages: Perfect location; looks very picturesque; resonable price
Disadvantages: Some rooms quite small

After much searching around for a reasonably priced hotel in Venice, we stumbled upon this one, advertised as a 4-star hotel in a deal that was less than the price of most of the three star hotels. Arriving in venice via a train from Rome, there was a half hour waterbus journey down the Grand Canal (which afforded for some spectacualr views and is the perfect way for first time visitors to experience the magic of this whimsical city) until we reached ...
...does prove a little tricky at first even with a map, due to the very small and very many streets, but the Caveletto could not have a better location. It is quite literally a stone's throw from St. Mark's Square (the centre of all things Venetian) and it is a very hard to miss. The hotel itself looks just as though it is from a painting and every time that you walk back to it, there is certainly a feeling that you are getting the most from your experience ... Read review

LOCANDA REMEDIO Venice's hidden gem.
Review of Colombina Hotel, Venice by poshtroika

Advantages: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
Disadvantages: NONE

We actually stayed in the Anex of Hotel Colombia that is called LOCANDA REMEDIO. You use the checkin of the Colombina, then they take you thru the back yard, DO NOT LET THIS DETER YOU. You then enter the Anex climbing a stone stairway that opens into a Beautiful Salon, this is where you will have breakfast, superb compared with small breakfast room in the main Hotel. The staff come across in the morning and set the tables in the Salon. The rooms ... Read review

Nice and relaxing outside Venice
Review of Campeggio Holiday Center Valdor, Venice by zuckeer

Advantages: close to the beach
Disadvantages: a bit hard to find

General We went to Venice to be romantic. And this hotel was perfect for us even though we had hard time finding it. It is close to the beach, relaxing, quiet and there were hardly any guests apart from us. And I liked the fact it was a bit out of town. The breakfast was great and the hotel is situated beautifully with its own big garden and closeness to the beach. I do recommend this place if you want to take part in both beach and city. ...
...colours, almost boring but clean. There was just enough room for a double bed and there was a small telly on the wall showing just Italian programs but I didn't mind. I'm not there for watching telly. There was also a small sofa and a mirror and a table to that. Just enough space to put our stuff on. But again not a problem, we had the bed. The toilet was very small and had just enough space for a tiny shower. But it was clean and we got clean towels ... Read review

Oriental Venetian bliss
Review of Hotel Ai Mori d'Oriente, Venice by bigfatdogs

Advantages: Close to the water bus drop off, central to the dity
Disadvantages: Room very small, walls paper thin

Ai Mori d'Oriente Hotel We found this to be a charming small hotel. It straddles two buildings which is possibly its only disadvantage, in that we had to go up and under, round and down and up and under again through very narrow corridors to get to our room. Venice is an old city and I suppose that one of the charms that the buildings are not clones of each other. The hotel has a breakfast room, but does not provide evening ...
...The staff in the hotel on a whole though were fairly non engaging. Breakfast was absolutely excellent and is served in a large covered courtyard, with lots of eating options. Scrambled egg and bacon costs extra though. Our room was small, and was located in the attic space, and it felt like that. We had non-functioning air conditioning, we left the window open and that was however fine. In fairness we did not raise this with the hotel, and it maybe ... Read review

Hitlon Hotel, Venice, Molino Stucky
Review of Hilton Molino Stucky Hotel, Venice by bostonianbeer

Advantages: Great hotel, great location?
Disadvantages: Perhaps too big!

...I read about the new Hilton Hotel that had just opened in Venice and they had comments on the wonderful views and the roof terrace. As we had booked to visit Venice in March of this year, and had been several times before this was an opportunity to see another view of Venice from a different area. I had read that it is a large hotel and thinking about Venice and the size it must be out of the main Venice tourist area, we had not seen any building ...
...until we arrived at the Hilton which is the other end of Giudecca Island. They do say that Elton John has a house in this part of Venice. The hotel is an imposing building which was built in the 19th century and is known as Mulion Stuky (on the maps of Venice) it's previous use was a flour mill, though after years of staying empty and fires it has been transformed into one of the best hotels in the world. I must say we were not impressed with the ... Read review
