Venus Beach - we renamed it Anus Beach

Advantages: Stunning Location Friendly staff
Disadvantages: Shabby, tired rooms. Overworked staff

The Venus Beach Hotel is widely advertised as 5* but don't be fooled it offers poor 3* accomodation. This is a great shame as it is located in a wonderful setting right next to the historical site of the Tombs of the Kings just outside Paphos. with grounds leading down to a small beach area. FIRST IMPRESSIONS I stayed there in August this year and to say I was disappointed is a gross understatement. The first thing I noticed upon arrival was the slightly neglected look to the grounds, unmown lawns and untrimmed bushes. We were greeted in reception by friendly attentive staff and our cases were taken to our room for us as would be expected in a 5* hotel. Our room was on the 4th floor and on entering it our faces must have mirrored our dissapointment. To say the room had a tired appearance ...

Athena so called beach

Advantages: Great pools, near to reteraunts and cafes
Disadvantages: the beach and the lunch canteen

on the Internet so we thought, that looks good and Cyprus sounds lovely, let?s go there. For people who don?t do diving there are lots of other stuff to do so don?t discard the idea straight away, more later on in the review. -Where is it- The Athena beach hotel is on the Greek side of Cyprus. It is in the City/Town of Paphos and is very close to both the harbour and the airport. There are lots of restaurants near by and it is right on the sea, hence the name beach hotel. Paphos is on the south west of the island and the island its self is just west of Syria and south of Turkey, In the Mediterranean Sea. The location is ideal as it is close to the harbour, the hotel and you can get a bus up to the Old part of the town. It is right on the sea so you can enjoy sea views and a pint of beer (if you drink). -The Constantinou Brothers ? I shall ...

Review of Athena Beach Hotel, Paphos

On the beach, value for money hotel

Advantages: Location, service, food
Disadvantages: Few extra facilities

from the swimming pools, bars, library, a games room, souvenir shop etc. But the hotel is situated right on the beach and close to few bars and restaurants. That was enough for us as we wanted a relaxing holiday with something to do in the evening if we decided we didnt want to spend it in the hotel. There is a local bus route which stops outside the hotel which will take you into the old town of Paphos - there is a market there once a week. Or you could go sightseeing - the Castle at Paphos harbour, Tombs of the Kings and lots more. The whole of Paphos is actually on the World Heritage List so you can imagine there is plenty to see if you are into your history. Taxis are plentiful but I would order from reception and get them to quote you a price as some of the drivers tend to charge what they want. We actually hired a car from ...
