...The Venus Beach Hotel is widely advertised as 5* but don't be fooled it offers poor 3* accomodation.
This is a great shame as it is located in a wonderful setting right next to the historical site of the Tombs of the Kings just outside Paphos. with grounds leading down to a small beach area.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
I stayed there in August this year and to say I was disappointed is a gross understatement.
The first thing I noticed upon arrival was the slightly neglected look to the grounds, unmown lawns and untrimmed bushes.
We were greeted in reception by friendly attentive staff and our cases were taken to our room for us as would be expected in a 5* hotel.
Our room was on the 4th floor and on entering it our faces must have mirrored our dissapointment.

Advantages: Fantastic funky uplifting music, mixed by great DJ's. Friendly atmosphere, trendy beautiful people, reasonable drinks prices Disadvantages: Hot, hot, hot, lack of air conditioning
...Venus at Club V on a saturday night has to be the best night out in Manchester, forget the big name DJ's who you pay a fortune to see and queue for hours even when you've bought tickets. Venus provides the same and more for less cost and aggro. The music is always current and funky, none of this deep underground nonsense, just uplifting happy vibes. Drinks are reasonable for a city club and the entrance isnt bad either, I paid about £10 to get in. Only whinge I have about the place is the heat, its been nicknamed the sweatbox by my friends and unless you stand under the massive air vent all night you run the risl of looking very sweaty indeed by the time you leave. I have heard recently though the air conditioning or lack of has since been improved....

Advantages: Lively, interesting and different. Disadvantages: A bit expensive
...litter we saw on the streets were cigarette ends.
There were not many children only a few visitors with young ones - I would not take children to Venice for a holiday.
Venice is expensive I suppose we spent about £600+ on a short three day trip- even with a cheap airline, We stayed bed and breakfast in very clean and recently refurbished accommodation which was a reasonable price and one I would recommend for being near the station and water buses.
I suppose we could say that we did push the boat out (or rather paid someone to) by hiring a gondola but it was Valentines Day and how could we go to Venice without the added luxury of treating ourselves to a little bit of Venus in Venice.
