We had been out for our day trip to Lindisfarne, so since a full breakfast at the B&B we had only had an apple during the day so were ready for a gorge on return.
We got off the bus in Golden Square (which is actually more a street than a square), the bus dropped us just across the road from this restaurant. The A-Board advertised HAPPY HOUR 1700-1800 all Pastas and Pizzas £4.95. It was 17:35 so in we rushed.
Met by very friendly staff and seated within a Minute, natually the place was busy and buzzing.
Order taken. My better half chose Soup which was Cream of chicken and Sweetcorn, nice good bite pieces of chicken. Plenty of local fresh bread supplied with this. Janes main course Penne Roma, again most satisfying and plentiful.
I elected for a full portion of Penne 4 Cheese (smaller portions are available for starters) but het I was hungry. Followed this with a Spicy Pizza (With Jalopino peppers), at the price I half expected a meagre type Pizza, how wrong can you be a Full 12 inch Pizza with plenty of toppings.
As we were going to the Beer Festival later we had Peroni Beer . The wines on offer were £10.95 a bottle, but looking at the choices this was reasonable.
We finished by sharing a Tiramisu, again I did not really expect at the price such a delicious one, matched all we have had in Italy. It was servered not only with a small jug of Cream but also a small bowl of tasty Ice-Cream.
Total bill was £24. A real bargain given the attentive, friendly service, and quality of the food.
The restaurant is decorated in the Italian colours with many Photos from Rome, Florence, Venice Etc.
Yes well done VERDI RESTAURANT and a top score of 20 out of 10.
Even when not Happy hour their prices are very reasonable, hope you can read off the photo. Full Range of Chicken dishes and Steaks. Full Prices Pastas £5.95 Pizzas £5.95 Chicken dishes about £10 Steaks £10-13.
Very family friendly, no problem when family arrived with youngsters and push chair.
