Now that traveling is so easy by plane, It is possible to spend a week end
in a different town every week... Ryan Air, Virgin, makes a lot of interesting prices and it's a pleasure to discover other cultures, other countries, other ways of life...I use to go in Rome from time to time. There is always something to discover. Of course, there is the traditional tour around the fountains, the piazzas, the gardens, the churches...The last time I went there, I discover another way to visit the town. I found a book with the diary of Goethe and I decided to follow the same circuit. The book was in french but, I remember that you can find the same in english and of course in german if you can read this language.Goethe, as you now, is the father of german language, the same like Shakespeare for english people or Dante for italians or Moliere for french people.
He went in Rome more than 200 years ago and it was at the second floor of a house settle in Via del Corso who Goethe spent a lot of his time with other poets and german painters. The house is still at the same place and it's funny to start from this house to discover (200 years after) that Rome is still the same, always so atractive, and compare your point of view with the Goethe's one. You have to try. Discover your self the house of Goethe in the middle of Via del corso, visit the exhibition inside, buy
the little book I told you (illustrated by drawings made by Goethe him self) and lets go! You will certainly be around the Colosseo to have a look how the moon is looking...Like Goethe did 200 years ago!

I`ve travelled around Northern(Alpine) Italy but never gone to the South. I hope one day to visit Rome and the Marsala producing region of Sicily! Paul.
