The Amari Watergate Hotel Bangkok - fabulous!

Advantages: great for shopping, great customer services, large clean modern rooms
Disadvantages: maybe a bit "out of reality" for those wanting to experience the real Bangkok

Like the traveller on the previous review I was also unsure of what to expect about the Amari Watergate Hotel. We were offered a great deal with a travel agent with 2 nights for the price of 3, which for 3 nights in a 5 star hotel for £150 seemed criminal to refuse! After making the booking we then checked out the hotel online and it looked great. We were not dissapointed. The Amari is set in Bangkoks main commercial area with 3 of the largest shopping malls within walking distance (however, if walking in 95% humidity across frogger style traffic isnt your style a taxi to the furthest shopping mall - the Siam Centre is 40bahts (75p) The hotel provided us with a free taxi from the airport which was clean and airconditioned and it whisked us away to the foyre of the hotel in about 40 minutes, we were received at the hotel ...

Ambassador Hotel Review - Bangkok

Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Outdated rooms

I choose this hotel as a result of a special offer on 'asiarooms'. On arrival we were promptly shown to our room by a very helpful member of staff. The Deluxe room was a lot bigger tahn other hotels I have stayed in. However, it did seem a little tired looking and outdated in its appearance (the wood panelled walls didn't help). The choice of English channels in the room was also quite limited. Although, because of the hotels great location we didn't really spend much time in the room. Breakfast was included in the price and was of a good standard and with a large variety to choose from. However, the main restaurant were breakfast was served was always busy and we had to on a number of occassions share a table with other hotel guests. The highlight of this hotel is its location, just off of Sukhumvit road, the hotel is only ...

Review of Ambassador Hotel, Bangkok

Bangkok Palace Hotel

Advantages: Good cheap hotel, good facilities
Disadvantages: Odd location, under the expressway!

This is a very good hotel if you are visiting Bangkok for a brief time. I mostly took trips from the hotel to the main tourist sights so did not walk into the main bit of the city from the hotel, if you did it was quite a slog, especially when its really hot. The hotel itself was good, spacious, well air conditioned rooms with good bathrooms. The was tea/coffee making facilities aswell as a well stocked +cheap mini bar. The hotel had a safe room to put your valuables in for a small fee. The restaurant was good for breakfast...theres nothing better than cold thai green curry for breakfast!! There is also a nice bar in the hotel lobby which is lovely to sit in, in the evenings if you dont want to wander to far, it often has live music/singers. If you do feel like venturing far, the hotel runs a taxi service or you can hail one in ...
