A great place to lay your head!
Review of K+K Palais Hotel, Vienna by
Lush1
Advantages: Brilliant location
Disadvantages: Not many facilities
Despite what everyone says about turning 30, for me it's turned out to be quite a nice experience! Not only was I treated to a trip to Germany before Christmas, but also my lovely boyfriend had secretly booked a long weekend away for February. Sadly all treats are now gone! But for any of you thinking about going to Vienna, I would definitely say GO. Booking
Now as I mentioned, my boyfriend booked the hotel for me, so this is all based on second ... ...book this hotel through a city breaks complete package, after a bit of research we have discovered that most of the big package tour providers do include this hotel in both their winter breaks to Vienna and their summer city breaks. Interestingly, we have also found that all offer a discount via number of nights. Some offer 2 nights get one free others, 3 nights get one free, but its worth looking into the prices they charge prior to booking the ...

An excellent hostel
Review of Wombats Hostel - The Lounge, Vienna by
popbox
Advantages: Modern, great security, clean
Disadvantages: A little expensive
The Wombats Hostel chain is among the best in the business and The Lounge does not disappoint. Of the two Wombat Hostels in Vienna, The Lounge is marginally the better of the two, for location if nothing else. However, both are close to the Westbahnhof and local transport hubs. The hostel was clean and each guest receives a linen pack. Large lockers are available free of charge and there is no need to bring your own padlock. The Internet was a little ... ...good value and there are also reasonably priced laundry facilities. The staff were extremely friendly and reception is open 24/7. The only criticism would be the price, but Vienna is an expensive city and when compared to similar priced hostels, Wombats would easily get my vote. ...

Hilton Hotel, Vienna
Review of Hilton Vienna, Vienna by
martinwi
Advantages: Great Central Location with efficient staff
Disadvantages: Small gym and Spa
...prices. Apply for the 'free' Hilton Honours card (rewards available and priority checkin & checkout). The staff are helpful and nothing is too much. Breakfast is very good with a varied choice of foods. The hotel bars are small but never seemed to get fully packed out. Ask for some nuts and a bowl for free will be supplied.
The rooms are comfortable and of a good size. Its very clean throughout. The gym is tiny but there is a spa and its suitable ... ...given it a 5star excellent rating as it was fault free. The service is superb, the hotel clean and tidy, we had no complaints. Consider getting a Vienna card. It gets you into various places at a reduced rate and some travel for free. You also get a booklet which gives discounts in certain places. ...

Review of Le Meridien, Vienna by
earlofaldgate
Advantages: Bar shambala
Disadvantages: Bit pricey
...and my second stay in Le Meridien hotel. Too late in the year to take a beach holiday for less than a grand each but needing a break after 6 months solid work, I decided to go back.
Journey
We flew Austrian Airlines from Heathrow (Terminal 2 - Very quiet & we managed to check in with no wait at all) to Vienna airport, a 2 hour 10 minute journey in a tiny little Fokker plane. We were almost on the back row on the way & found the heat from the engines ... ...restaurant chain, but I declined it on both legs. On the return journey we were sat in the middle of the plane and the temperature was much better. Check in at the airport was a little slower than on the way out but still only about 10 minutes wait.
We took a taxi from the airport which worked out at €45 & €40 on the way back. There is a bus service & CAT train which I imagine are much cheaper but our bags were heavy & I didn't fancy walking to ...

Hotel Post Vienna
Review of Hotel Post, Vienna by
Maestrolover
Advantages: Central location at very reasonable price
Disadvantages: None really
This hotel has got to be one of the best kept secrets when it comes to staying in Vienna. The city is so compact that it is easy to explore on foot and the family run Hotel Post is one of the most economic places to stay in the central Ring area of Vienna. You are less than 10 minutes walk from the Stefansdom, Kaerntnerstrasse and the Graben and there's a subway (U-Bahn) station - Schwedenplatz about 3 minutes from the hotel, as well as stops for ... ...during their visit.
The Hotel Post is an older style of hotel and perhaps not as luxurious as some of the more modern hotels in the city, however, rooms are spotlessly clean, large, with usual features and more than good value for the price. Continental style buffet breakfast is excellent (try getting coffee this good in a British hotel!) and I've "stocked up" there for a day's sight-seeing on more than one occasion. Reception staff are exceedingly ...
