Advantages: Quick Transfer from Airport Disadvantages: None if you like a quiet village setting.
This is a review of the Vila Gale Hotel at Santa Cruz on the Island of Madeira.
We have just returned from a three day break.
We booked the Vial Gale as we have used their Hotel in Tavira for a few years and find them very good.
Hotel Location, is best described as if the Plane Toppled off the end of the Short Runway at Funchal Airport then it could land in the Hotel Swimming Pool.
Having said that do not let it put you off, it does not intrude and the closeness is slightly less than that, and it is quite exciting to watch the landings and takeoffs.
The Hotel is in the small village of Santa Cruz a mere 6 Euro Taxi ride from the airport gets you there.
Checkin was very efficient in a very large modern Reception Area.
Cost for the Three Nights for Double room with Breakfast was £111. This was for a Sea View Room ...

INTRODUCTION
We stayed at the Villa Rica Lisboa Hotel in Portugal about 2 weeks ago. It is a lovely, modern hotel near the center of busy Lisbon (if you can find a real center in that large, sprawling city!). Finding the hotel was a little difficult at night. We had asked directions from the Car Rental agency, but also had to ask from several pedestrians. The one who gave us the best and final directions was a young man who seemed to be a bit drunk or stoned (!). LOL But once we located it, it wasn't difficult to find again. But once we found it, we discovered that we were only around the corner from the underground train station..which is very cheap and very efficient.
PARKING
Luckily there is a free, very clean and well-lighted underground parking structure, which you enter directly next to the front door of the hotel. They ...
Advantages: Very central location, ideal for public transport and exploring the city Disadvantages: Can be noisy as it is so near the main station
Finding an affordable hotel in most Scandinavian cities tends to be a challenge, and this certainly proved to be the case on a recent business trip to Oslo. Norway is an expensive country for most overseas visitors and while the global economic downturn has depressed many European economies and driven prices down, Oslo seems to have remained largely unaffected - with the result that most hotels were well out of my price range. Still, the website for the Rica Oslo seemed promising and the hotel itself looked pretty smart, which in some cities is not always a given for accommodation so close to the main station.
The location of this hotel is without doubt its greatest asset: no more than 5 minutes' walk separate the platforms for the Flytoget (Oslo airport express train) from the Rica Oslo reception desk. You head out of the front ...
