Advantages: GREAT LOCATION NEAR THE BEACH Disadvantages: RIMINI
Rimini is not my idea of a perfect destination in Italy, but it's close to San Marino, which isn't a perfect destination in Italy either when you come to think of it. Anyway, Rimini worked out fine for us last year as we wanted to visit San Marino and the choice of hotels was so much better.
That's why we went there - now for where we went there.
We opted for the Ramada VillaRosa, mainly for the location it has to be said, but also because it looked a half decent hotel at a half decent price (80 euros).
The location couldn't be any better. It's 5 minutes from the historic town centre, sits right on the main drag just across the road from the beach and surrounded by bars and restaurants. We weren't really there for the beach, the historic town centre wasn't up to much but the bars and restaurants held a little more appeal ...
Advantages: Warm, sunny, no insects, great local restaurants Disadvantages: hotel food - apparently

The country - and the weather!!
Firstly, to set the scene i'll give a short introduction to the country, and of course, more importantly, the weather!.....Lanzarote is one of the hugely popular canary islands, and one of my favourite holiday destinations. Although part of Spain, Lanzarote sits close to the North of Africa and because of this, benefits from the heat of the mainland. Having said that, since its a fairly small island, theres quite often a fair breeze flowing through the country, but dont let that put you off, its a welcome breeze in the summer heat and means that the island has very few annoying insects which is a definite plus! James Villas had a strong advertising campaign over the last 2 years and, after a very happy holiday with them to Mallorca in 2004, we decided to book a week in Tuscany for the end of August 2008.
The website is very informative and we decided on our accommodation - Villa Podere Il Renaio in Legoli. A helpful section of the website allows you to check availability and prices for the week you want and weeks either side and so we were sorted. Actually, no! I know flights from Newcastle to Pisa were available with Jet2 (I had checked the prices on Jet2 website) but the James Villas website insisted I could only fly from Manchester, so I had no choice but to make a phone booking.
Phoning to book the holiday was easy. There was no queue, I got straight through to a very friendly operator who assured me that she could book Jet2 ...

Our hotel has bright and stylish, soundproofed rooms leading to furnished balconies, with plants and contemporary lighting overlooking the sea, only 20 metres away: modernity with a warm welcome. There are spacious rooms and public areas; light and comfort are the standard. You can relax in the sophisticated seating area with leather armchairs and marble floors. The outdoor terrace is a romantic choice for your evening meals in the summer months. We have tennis courts nearby, a golf course within 3 km and the opportunity to try kite- or windsurfing should not be missed reserve your lesson whilst booking. The conference facilities comprise 5 well-lit, fully equipped meeting rooms, with soundproofed windows, air conditioning and heating.
