ACCOMMODATION
The room was quite small, but it was adequate for our needs. We were only staying for a few nights so the room size didn't bother me that much. I felt that there was everything I could need including a bathroom and a separate bedroom. It was nice and quiet in the room which is what I wanted and the view from the window was nice. I wanted a rest away from the rush of every day life and felt that the scenery was perfect in creating a setting that was scenic and relaxing. The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout. The hotel looks very grand from the outside and when you enter the hotel the interior is very modern. The decoration is dark with many different patterned wallpapers.
FACILITIES
The bed was very comfortable and I slept well on both nights. I must admit it was noisy at times with the flight path being in direct line with the hotel. During the night I did not notice the noise from the planes probably because I slept so well. In the morning the noise was louder again, but it didn't ever bother me greatly. Currently there are 117 rooms with en suite bathroom, colour TV (most with Sky including sports channels and movies), direct-dialtelephone, hair-dryer and hospitality tray.
My
favourite part of the holiday and stay in the hotel was the leisure facilities. We spent a whole morning just relaxing in the pool, jacuzzi and steam room. I was a bit disappointed that the sauna was not in use when we were there, but the steam room was available and that was nice. I would have liked to go in the sauna and felt it was a bit unfair I had paid the money and couldn't use all the facilities.
I liked the family changing rooms as I cannot walk very well at the moment this was very helpful. It meant that my husband could help get my daughter ready whilst I got changed. Also the changing room had a hair dryer so whilst my husband got my daughter dressed I dried my hair. The changing room also had a shower and liquid soap. I liked the mirror above the sink because you could check what you looked like before leaving the room. A must for all ladies who spend a lot of time in front of the mirror. There was a nice, large bench inside that I could sit on and a toilet. The facilities were nice and clean. The only thing I didn't like was the limited swimming times for children. It meant that we couldn't spend the whole day there like we had planned. I can see why there is adult swimming times because there was a lot of children and it isn't ideal when you are trying to swim. What I didn't like was that we asked one of the workers what time we had to get out because of our daughter and he said 2 0 clock. Then at 12 0 clock we were told that we had to get out because children swimming times were over. We were not very happy because it felt like we were being thrown out. I think they had too many adult swim times and could have changed this to once a day. The Health & Fitness Club has all the facilities needed to relax and unwind, including 25m heated indoor pool, Sauna, Steam room, Whirlpool spa, Jacuzzi and Sun showers There is also a fully equipped gym, Toning tables, squash courts and Spinning Studio.
RESTAURANT
The service in the restaurant was not particularly fast although we were in no particular rush which was good. The Verve Grill is the hotel's fantastic restaurant that has a fresh and innovative menu. Here, guests will enjoy seasonal classics cooked with imagination and served with style. The Victory Pub & Kitchen is there if you fancy a change. It sells local brews, guest beers and a full range of alcoholic and soft drinks, along with a delicious menu of light meals.
STAFF
As soon as we arrived at the reception we were made to feel welcome and our room was ready. The reception staff were welcoming and quick to help. There was a buzz about the hotel with people of all ages. I noticed that there was a group from a school who had used the leisure facilities and there were lot's of families with small children.
The staff were friendly and courteous throughout our stay. They were there ready if we needed to ask something and provided all the information that we needed to know. The family room we stayed in was ample and had everything that we would need for our short stay. It was cleaned daily by maids and we were left tea, coffee, milk and a biscuit. You can also get coffee and other hot drinks throughout the hotel. There is also one vending machine on one floor of the hotel, but it is quite a trek
RESTARAUNT
The pub prices were all right considering some of the hotels you stay in can cost up to £5 for a pint of lager the prices were not that bad in the bar. For a pint of Coors I paid £2.90.
We enjoyed a nice meal in the restaurant it was delicious. The food was cooked to perfection and considering the meal was only £8.99 for 3 courses it was excellent value for money. There was a special deal called the early bird deal that included starters such as salads - main courses such as flat bread pizzas and desserts such as sticky toffee pudding. The food was served at the right temperature with a good portion size. In fact, the portion size was plenty for us as well as being able to give some to our daughter who doesn't eat that much anyway. The food was well prepared and served nicely presented. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had in the restaurant and wasn't expecting the food to be so nice.
SCENERY
It is the perfect choice of hotel if you are flying from Manchester airport since it is so close by, 3 miles to be precise. It is perfect if you just want to stop for 1 or 2 nights before you fly out of Manchester for somewhere more exotic. It is also a gorgeous place to stay for a short break like we did because the area is wonderful. The area is washed in greenery with beautiful trees and hills. It is hard to believe that such a beautiful area is so close to Manchester city centre. The houses are massive around here and it is obviously an area that has not been hit by the credit crunch. I think the people around here are very well off. It is the kind of place I would like to live if I had the money.
There is a lovely park close to the hotel called Bruntwood park and we took our daughter there for the day. There is a nice café within the park and a few different play grounds for children. It is free to get into the park and there are places where you can buy ice creams and other snacks aside from the café You could also enjoy the surroundings whilst bringing a picnic. There are designated areas where you can eat a picnic should you want to.
My daughter also went on a bouncy castle in the park and thoroughly enjoyed herself. Fortunately the weather was glorious and I relaxed in the sun as my daughter played with her father. My little girl loved watching the planes and kept pointing to them as they went by over head. Sometimes they were so low that you could see the writing on them. I would stay here again because I enjoyed my stay and the surrounding area was beautiful. When we went home I was very sad to leave such a luxurious area of Countryside.
