Advantages: Clean, tidy, good food. all inclusive Disadvantages: None
...We booked this holiday a couple of months ag, in June. We decided to go all inclusive after last year's trip to the Bahamas. It cost just over £2000 including insurance for 14 nights.
On arriving in Crete (2.5 hours late due to delays at Bristol airport) it was rediculously hot - the airport in Heraklion is very small and its a bit of a battle to collect your bags and get out of the arrivals hall. As you walk out you are accosted by the heat and, across the road are a number of "huts" which iswhere you'll find the travel reps.
We were loaded onto a coach by our rep Jodie (who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable - even though she looked about 16 years old!). First stop was our hotel, the Creta Panorama and Creta Mare, after a 50 minute journey.
There are actually three hotels here 3km from Panormo and 15km from Rethymno. The Creta...

Advantages: Long sandy beach, village feel, friendly locals, good base to explore Disadvantages: Mosquitos can be a nuisance, maybe too quiet for teenagers
...inexpensive.
Three rivers run into the Cretan sea here, and you can feel the change in temperature in the estuaries, as the river meets the sea. Fishermen sort their catch every morning on the quayside in the small harbour, and spend the afternoons mending their nets. Just beyond the village are a series of wetlands, which is home to a variety of wild birds. Because of these wetlands, mosquitos can be a problem at times - so be sure to have repellents for your evenings out and plug-ins for your hotel room.
The locals are very friendly and will ensure you have good evenings out - although teenagers may not find the nightlife very exciting. There is an internet café with pool tables, but otherwise nightlife revolves around the main square or hotel bars - although sometimes the beach bars can be quite lively, but they are no longer allowed to play...

...made an effort to get to know everybody.
The Europa Beach is opposite the Beach and is about a 20 minute walk away from the Village of Analipsi which has several restaurants and a few bars. The towns of hersonisos and heraklion are a taxi ride away and these have more clubs and bars.
In Summary, I had a wonderful time at the Europa Beach. It was a quiet relaxing holiday, with good quality food and drink in vast supply. I would definatly go back for a family holiday, but would go somewhere different if I wanted a holiday with a more energetic nightlife....
