Advantages: the weather, the people, the area, virtually everything in fact Disadvantages: the beach sellers, the cockroaches, the long flight time from the UK, and a small earthquake.
...Firstly my general rule of thumb about going on holiday is, when choosing a destination it must be somewhere I have not been before, but Acapulco is somewhere I would return to in a heartbeat.
It has to be one of the best holidays I have had in a long time.
Why? I hear you ask.
We booked about 6 weeks before we went so not exactly last minute, but not ages in advance and paid around £750 each for all inclusive 4 star hotel for two weeks. All the hotels are arranged around the bay along a long road called La Costera, and many are actually on the beach.
The hotel was fabulous, on the beach and the staff were great, you didnt even have to get out of your sunlounger to go to the bar, the waiters came down on to the beach and delivered your drinks to you dripping with ice. Well you need to keep cool in 47C heat.

Advantages: Great properties, unique experiences, wonderful holidays. Disadvantages: None - although might not be suitable for all travelers

As is the norm in our experience with James Villas, the supplied literature concerning the accommodation and local area...

Advantages: Closest beach to Mexico City, donde vivo ahora Disadvantages: It rains a lot this time of year
...though. Although people walk up and down it every few seconds offering you massages, quesadillas and silver so shiny you know it will turn your skin green, it is largely a peaceful place.

We went, of course, and it is truly spectacular. You can stand at the top for free but the view is no good - much better to pay your 35 pesos (including a free drink!) and head down to the specified viewing platform. We arrived at 9pm and it was already crowded for the 9.30pm show. The show starts with some fit men in tiny trunks climbing up a sharp cliff face. Individually, or in pairs or in threes they then somersault or swallow dive into the water with the grace...
