Callao is having many place for visit like the Real Felipe that is lie a fort for defending Lima in the 17th century of the Pirates and after the Independence os the Spanish for reconquest in 1866 and now is Naval Museum.
Callao is a city that exits a National Airport, so when You arrive to Lima You are in Callao for staying some days in my country Peru.
At the begging of the 20th century Callao had an Italian people as imigrants living there. In the middle of 20th century there were street cars that came from Lima, now this street car doesn't exist because the INC went to the bankruptcy

Advantages: Free accomodation, clean and tidy Disadvantages: Bad Location
A perk which comes with my job is a two week RCI Timeshare to anywhere featured in the RCI brochure.
All I have to pay for is the flight, even the insurance comes free.
We have been going to Tenerife for the last two years in March, so because we knew the weather has always been good we chose Tenerife again, but for just one week, the other week can be taken later on, hopefully.
I sent an email to RCI and all they had available was CallaoGarden in Callao Salvaje, Salvaje being pronounced Salvaki.
It is 15 minutes away in the car from Las Americas, but to the North/West side.
We wasn't keen at first, as we thought it may be too far out, but after little thought we went ahead thinking it was free and beggars can't be choosers.
The confirmation arrived and on the 8th of March we set off to our destination.

Advantages: Cheap, Fortress Disadvantages: Not many things to see, away from Lima
Callao is the main sea port of Peru and lies next to Lima. You will have to visit it since Jorge Chavez International Airport is there. As soon as you step out of the airport you will see what most of Callao looks like: an industrial area full of depots, army bases and suburban houses in a bad state.
But it does have its attractions, all mainly in area called La Punta. Real Felipe is the fortress at the seaside which defended the city from pirates like Sir Francis Drake in Peru's colonial era (but you can't go inside). La Perla is what remains of the upper class beach houses during last century.
Otherwise Callao has very little to offer, I would recommend you spend your time in Lima and visit Callao only if you are curious and brave. I certainly do not recommend staying overnight in Callao. ...
