It was our fault because we got a last minute deal and unfortunately it was with 18-30 so we should have known what to expect but as we were only 19 ourselves we thought we'd give it a go as it was cheap.
I suppose I'm giving it a raw deal really, it wasn't that bad. It was just a bit basic. It had a mini kitchenette area but there was 1 saucepan and two plates or different sizes so you couldn't really stay and have a meal in. Even the glasses were dirty.
Its main advantage is it was close enough to the action so you still felt part of the atmosphere but far enough away that it wasn't on your doorstep. To be honest, we didn't go down to Veronicas hardly at all and when we did, I had my camera stolen by a chav on the beach as we were walking back so not a good experience really! Tenerife is so catered for the tourist market that there are bars and restaurants everywhere so we found a little one calles Cocktails and Dreams (cheesy I know) but it had kareoke, cheap drinks and great staff so we tended to stay there and got quite well aquainted with all the other guests that were shunning the rest of the rabble.
Vina del Mar unfortunatly wanted money for everything. Check out was so ridiculously early that you had to pay extra to be able to either stay in your room or go have a shower in an allocated room at an allotted time. It worked out quite expensive. Also there is a busy road running quite close to the hotel and this can be quite noisy.
The biggest pain was the reps. i know it was 18-30 but they just didn't seem to want to take no for a n answer. we were on a budget so didn't want to do all their trips and frankly they were a rip off but they just kept banging on our door to the point where we had to pretend we were not in just to keep them away from us. A tip for you, if you do fancy going on a trip like a day cruise which we did, take my advice and go to one of the little kiosks offering up the trip. Its exactly the same as the rep was charging but about a third of the price plus you don't have to go with daz, gav, trace, jugs or any of the rest of the chav brigade.
I've been back to tenerife many times but I wouldn't go back to that hotel. I thought it was a bit money grabbing, not clean enough (even for 18-30 guests, it should still be at least clean) and there wasn't enough hospitality. Go to Tenerife, its great fun and can be very beautiful, just not here!!!
