great taste and warmth, and its little details and excellent service makes it unique. The property is situated just five minutes from the historical centre of Salamanca, in front of the bridge that enters the Conference Centre, the perfect spot for business and leisure travelers alike. Among the services, guests will find a reception open 24 hours, laundry service, two meeting and conference rooms, an Internet Point, a bar and a restaurant.
Advantages: university, nightlife, history, culture... Disadvantages: not many people speak english
...it was published the first Spanish Grammar in 1492, and indeed many foreigners come here to learn Spanish as Salmantinos (people born in Salamanca) speak very correct Spanish (I think I am also learning Spanish here lol).
The university is divided into different Campuses located around the city. Campus "Miguel de Unamuno" holds Law, Business, Medicine, Pharmacy... and students can get there by foot (15-20 mins. from the centre) or by bus (lines 4 and 13.).
Students of Humanities and Science (except Psychology and Education) attend lessons in the centre part of the town, close to the Main Square (from now on Plaza Mayor). Psychology is situated far from the centre but it takes 20 mins max. by foot, and the same for students of Education which is situated close to river Tormes.
The University oldest buildings such as Philology are worth visiting...

Advantages: CULTURE, BEAUTY, FANTASTIC NIGHTLIFE AND BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDING COUNTRYSIDE Disadvantages: LANGUAGE FACTOR
...I lived in Salamanca for 8 years and when I first arrived there I dare say that I found it very difficult not speaking spanish. The Salmantinos are used to the town being overrun by foreigners during the summer attending the university and at first I found them to be not very inviting. As my time in Salamanca went on and I learnt more spanish and made more of an effort to communicate with the people in spanish I found that they accepted me as if I was one of them. Only through them I discovered the best restaurants, best bars , and indeed the Sierra which is an hours drive away. The smallest towns which all of a sudden fill up with people just for the fiestas and they are very eager to share their festivities with any who might go there. I also discovered the Alberca which is a very small town which looks like it has been lost...

Advantages: history culture that's it Disadvantages: Boring for kids the people the weather bad location - middle of no where
...Living in Salamanca for five months enabled me to live surrounded by the imposing cathedrals and architecture. The city is no doubt beautiful - the university where I studied has an amazing history - Christopher Colombus was there with his plans for what became America. The plaza mayor is breath - taking and is a must. However Salamanca is not all history and architecture, it has its downsides which led me to leave. The people are not so used to foreigners as in other areas of Spain and do not have a warm and welcoming attitude towards us. Do not expect everyone to speak English, they won't. The weather is very rarely good, not the place to go if you are seeking a tan. To sum it up, perhaps worth a day trip no more....
