after leaving the airport,it was a 20 minute ride in a taxi, approx 25 euro, the area surrounding the hotel is quite residential/ rundown industrial estate which was off putting to start with and not the kind of place i wanted to walk through late at night, the area is ... ...and a brand new metro service, the area seems up and coming and the new apartments, shopping centre and hilton hotel certainly comfound this. the rooms are nice, spacious, and substancial discounts are to be had if you book via the hotels website - we got a 60% off infact! you are about 15 minutes on the metro away from downtown barcelona, and there seem to be three ways of communting about, 1 the bus which stops outside the shopping centre, 2 the ... more

after leaving the airport,it was a 20 minute ride in a taxi, approx 25 euro, the area surrounding the hotel is quite residential/ rundown industrial estate which was off putting to start with and not the kind of place i wanted to walk through late at night, the area is called diagonal mar, and is served by regualr bus services and a brand new metro service, the area seems up and coming and the new apartments, shopping centre and hilton hotel certainly comfound this. the rooms are nice, spacious, and substancial discounts are to be had if you book via the hotels website - we got a 60% off infact! you are about 15 minutes on the metro away from downtown barcelona, and there seem to be three ways of communting about, 1 the bus which stops outside the shopping centre, 2 the metro, which is located underground, with various entrances in front of the shopping centre, and the tram, which takes you down towards the zoo on the outskirts of barcelona centre, we also found that the area around the hotel is actually ok late at night,its busy with people and if you keep to the main roads, fine. the food is expensive in the hotel,the staff are ok, but very average, not very eager to help, and the rooftop pool only open certain times of the day, the room is very classy, plasma tv with about 4 english channels, funky bathroom with bath and shower, but the windows are quite high and dont open very much, so air can be an issue if the air con isnt too cool (centrally controlled) there isnt much of a bar, or much to do around the hotel at night, so a trip to barcelona is needed, and wont disappoint.
