Vincci Palace, Valencia

Perfect base for city stay

Advantages: Excellent central location
Disadvantages: Spa offers not so good

Valencia is a lovely, compact city with a mild climate, that and the fact that buget airlines now fly there (the airport is just a 15 minute taxi ride away), makes it an excellent city for a weekend break. The Vinnci Lys is based in the heart of the Old Town within walking distance of the main tourist attractions and close to the bus and train network should you want to visit the beach or City of Arts & Sciences which are on the outskirts. The facilities at the hotel are very good and include a spa/health suite where you may receive complementary vouchers (depending on booking offers), however these vouchers have conditions attached requiring the purchase of other treatmentsso are not as valuable as may be implied, though prices are not unreasonable. Partying at the Palace (ish)

Advantages: Comfortable, clean, good staff
Disadvantages: A few faults, doesnt live up to expectations

This review is about my Christmas party experience at the Strand Palace Hotel. This year, I was in charge of organising our office Christmas party, and, being based in South East London, the department tends to head to Bromley or Greenwich for a meal. But this year we decided to go all out, and go 'up west', and so I came across the Strand Palace hotel on my googlequest and we decided to go posh as well. The booking process was slightly tiresome, seeing as the particular member of staff we made our booking through was somewhat challenged in the brains department. The initial booking process was easy. We booked ourselves in for the three-course carvery meal, and then Channy and I (the office babies) were sent scuttling around collecting everybody's cash (£33 per head). Review of The Strand Palace Hotel, London

More to Valencia than oranges

Advantages: History, good food and attractions
Disadvantages: Maybe not geared up for tourism

- it really is a huge Valencia attraction as the brochure said over four million people visit this area each year. There are other gardens which I did not visit but look out for information on them if you do visit Valencia: Jardines de la Alameda as well as another 18th century park, Jardines de Monforte. The Zoological Gardens are in the ''Real Gardens'' and inside here you will find the ruins of an old king's palace. SOME OTHER ATTRACTIONS There are many other places to go to, which I did not have time to do but I'll mention them from the map just so you learn a little more if planning to visit Valencia yourself. In Plaza Zaragoza you will find an unfinished 47m Gothic tower, dating back to the 14th century the Miguelete was recommended to me as a place to view the city.
