I flew with Virgin Atlantic back in October 2006 from Gatwick to Florida, after flying with them to New York a few months previous, after having such a pleasant experience. We were let down on our departure by finding out there was a technical fault with the plane and to our disappointment out flight was delayed 21 hours to the following day! Not happy!! To make matters worse, the way in which the situation was dealt with by the staff was appalling. The delay was announced by the manager who thought the situation was a lot funnier than we all did! We were told that a room and vouchers for dinner/breakfast would be provided for us which was a slight relief, but there was more trouble when we found that we were not down on the list for this, thus causing a lot more hassle for us. Eventually we got our room and occupied ourselves for that evening.
Thankfully the following day we boarded our flight with no problems (after recieving a 50% off voucher on our next Virgin Holiday.) The on-board entertainment on the plane was excellent; each person gets a tv-headrest screen which includes a selection of films, programmes and games. The food wasnt too bad, as far as I remember you recieve a choice of 3 meals. The plane was very clean and the staff were in the end very friendly and welcoming!
Despite our bad start to our holiday, I would definitely fly with Virgin again; on returning to Florida this year we decided to spend a little less money on the flight and I must say it is not worth doing. For a pleasant flying experience and a clean environment (!) it is worth spending that little bit extra! Lets just hope our initial experience was a one off!
