I wasn't looking forward to our flight to Barbados, this had nothing to do with the Airline. Our flight was 9hours long and having two young children aged 2 and 4 i was expecting it to be a nightmare .
I had only ever flown once before to Tenereffe which is only a 4hour flight and i hated every second of it. This was the first time for my children on an plane.
I had not done any research on Virgin Atlantic before we flew with them, i assumed all airlines were roughly the same and expected the same treatment as i had got with Air 2000 when i flew with them.
As we got on to the plane we were greeted by one of the hostesses who showed us to our seats. Once the plane was ready to leave we were told about safety and shown where the exits were if needed.
Once the plane was in the air, we were brought drinks, i was expecting to pay around £3 for a fun size can of coke like you do on alot of other airlines, i was very shocked when we were told every thing on the flight was complimentary. We had choices of wines , coke , tea, coffee and juice. The wine was very nice , not cheep vineger tasting like i expected.
The children's meals were fantastic they had spaghetti and meatballs, cake, fruit bag, fromase frais , and a dairy lee dunker. A bit much for the kids to eat but they had a great choice. The adults meals were very nice too I had a curry which was delicious and a mini pud , which was chocolate, that was so scrummy.
We were given snacks of crisps and drinks throughout the flight , just before we got of the flight we were given sandwiches which was nice as it kept us going till we got to the hotel.
The entertainment on the flight was excellent, we had a choice of brand new movies to watch, games to play and even a text phone all on a little screen in front of you. Although i went through about 10 pairs of head phones before i found some what worked, but the staff were very helpful with this. My 2 year old daughter even enjoyed it.
My children are not the most contented children but on this flight they were angels, there was enough going on to keep them entertained for 9 hours and the chairs were very comfortable with plenty of leg room.
The staff were very nice and chatted to us when ever the had time. I have to say i think the flight turned out to be the best part of our holiday.
I would strongly recommend Virgin Atlantic , they are just fantastic. We will be using them when ever possible for future holidays.
