It has to be said, Curly110's review just about says it all - but I just wanted to add my perspective from someone who had not travelled to Oz before last Summer.
I only had 3 weeks and needed to cram is as much as possible - plus we wanted to do part of it by road. In the end we drove from Brisbane to Airlie Beach, then to Alice Springs and then flew Virgin Blue from Alice to Sydney - and then Sydney back to Brisbane.
It wasn't until a friend recommended Virgin Blue that we realised we could fit in everything we wanted to do - and still stay in budget. It was scarily easy to find the flight we wanted and to book on line, though it is definitely worth booking as far in advance as you can. Was just like booking an EasyJet flight around the UK.
We booked online directly through their website - which was very simple to use and paid around £30 each for the Sydney/Brisbane flight and £60 each for the Alice/Sydney one. Seeing all the different options and prices also helped with planning our route and our itinerary - as travelling on certain days was cheaper than others.
Once we got there everything went according to plan too. Friendly and helpful staff, flight was on time, plane was clean. I really could not fault it and will definitely fly with Virgin Blue next time I go to Oz.
