We travelled to barbados with Virgin Holidays back in September 2000 and without doubt, its been the best holiday we have ever had.
We were trawling through about 5 million holiday brochures trying to find the perfect hotel to get married at. We were looking at so many companies but found a hotel that caught our eye in the Virgin brochure and this was a Virgin Flagship hotel only available through Virgin so we had no choice but to go with them as we had set our heart in this hotel.
We phoned Virgin's telesales staff and spoke to a girl was really helpful, she took her time with the booking and went through everything we needed. They named their price and we paid our deposit, the wedding was on !!!
We received our invoice a few days later and then about 2 weeks later we received a letter from Virgins wedding department asking us more details about our planned wedding and telling us the legal requirements and what documents we would have to bring. We were asked what day we wanted to get married, what time and it gave a full price list of all the optional extra's you want for your wedding which you can pre book for peace of mind and pay for them in the resort. They also sent a letter out 2 months before the departure to re confirm everything to us, they really did make us feel confident that everything would go to plan.
The flight with Virgin Atlantic was brilliant ( see seperate review ) and on arrival we were taken to our hotel on a bus that had seen better days to be honest but we just had a laugh about it, you're in Barbados after all !!!
The hotel we stayed in was the Escape Hotel and Spa although the Spa area wasn't built at that time. I loved it, it was right on the beach, the food was amazing and i would highly recommend it.
The Virgin rep was a lovely woman from Barbados who knew everything about the island, she gave you lots of good advice on excursions but there was no pressure from her. She booked a hire car for us and she chartered a fishing boat for my husband. She was on hand 24/7 to give advice.
I cant recommend Virgin enough for long haul destinations, they are the company we always book through when going long haul and have never had a problem with them.
