On our third trip to Florida we decided to fly with Virgin Atlantic, having flown with First Choice for the previous two trips. If you are staiying in Orlando, one of the advantages of Virgin is that they fly to Orlando Airport as opposed to the cheaper flights landing at Sanford which is approximately an hours drive from Orlando. After a 9 or more hour flight the sooner you reach your final destination the better. We flew from Gatwick and check in went very smoothly, you can check in the evening before if you live sufficiently close to the airport.
Our outward flight exceeded our expectations, especially as out family of four were seated in the back seats which enabled us to recline them without bothering people behind us and the row of seats in front was completely empty, my husband made full advantage of this and stretched out over all four seats, promptly fell asleep and missed his dinner!! ha ha. We were constantly offered eats and drinks and all had a handy amenity kit. We felt we were well looked after.
The return flight was fuller, but the fact that the flights depart early evening and we could check our baggage in an Downtown Disney early in the morning, meant that we could enjoy the rest of our last day, without carting all the luggage (probably double the amount we took out) around with us all day. It also meant that we could leave going to the airport for the return flight until the last minute and all we had to do was drop off the hire car.
We booked the entire holiday through Jetsave who use Virgin Flights and if we go in the future, we will definitely use them again. We found that Jetsaves prices were favourable to booking direct with Virgin, maybe because we have teenagers who are given a discounted price through Jetsave as they were classed as adults by Virgin Holidays.
