I paid my first visit to Wagamama Birmingham last night...well my second actually...my first was cut short with us leaving before eating as the service there was appalling...so as I didn't eat there beofre I guess we'll call this my first experience.
The Wagamama restaurant in Birmingham is situated in the Bullring complex. It is on the ground floor to the left of the main entrance for the shops. There is nothing outstanding about it's external experience having a fresh clean appearance just like the rest of the Bullring.
You enter Wagamama and are immediately faced by a display cabinet where you can see numerous T-shirts and other items of merchandise. To enter the restaurant itself you descend a flight of approximately 10 stairs.
The staff are quick to greet and welcome you to the restaurant. A member of staff explained to us where we needed to leave our belongings and gave us directions to the toilets. The general appearance inside was clean and fresh but on the whole nothing spectacular.
The menu choice was extensive with a large number of noodle dishes and noodle soups. A number of accompaniments are available for your meal including gyoza (dumplings)
My partner and I settled for a seafood ramen - this is an absolutely huge bowl of seafood broth and contained a mixture of crabsticks, prawns and noodles. We both felt underwhelmed by the dish feeling we had experienced better in Tenkai'Chi Cardiff and a small Chinese cafe just around the corner (both of whom served larger quantities of fish within their broth at approximately £2 lower). Typically plates ranged from £7.00 with the average costing £8.50 accompanying dishes are available £3.00 and make a nice extra to a meal. There was also a range of deserts available starting from approximately £3.00.
