Firstly apologies for the title.
Right then, since visiting milton Keynes in October when I saw that there would be a Wagamama opening, I have been waiting for a chance to go. When we heard that the in laws were wanting to look after our son for a bit we jumped at the chance and headed off.
i had only heard about wagamama in one of those awful gossip magazines that I was reading whilst I was in the doctors waiting ... ...out there, i was intigued from that point.
So although we were dubious about getting in, because there were only two of us, there was no problem, karger groups may have to wait as the seating is on big long tables and everyone eats together.

Right then, since visiting milton Keynes in October when I saw that there would be a Wagamama opening, I have been waiting for a chance to go. When we heard that the in laws were wanting to look after our son for a bit we jumped at the chance and headed off.
i had only heard about wagamama in one of those awful gossip magazines that I was reading whilst I was in the doctors waiting room, and saw that David Walliams and Matt Lucas hung out there, i was intigued from that point.
So although we were dubious about getting in, because there were only two of us, there was no problem, karger groups may have to wait as the seating is on big long tables and everyone eats together.
As soon as we had been allocated a slot, we were given the usual speil.... we perhaps not usual, I was shown a shelf that I could put my handbag and we were shown coat hooks where we could hang our coats.
So then, the menu: there are no starters, just mains and sides, the idea being that you get it all together and pick. From memory there were three or four types of dish, soup, noodle, rice and sauce based.
I can only comment on the soup and noodle, the main point here is that what ever you order you need to realise that in this place they seem to be catering for giants. the dishes are huge - I mean the soup came in a bowl that was bigger than my serving bowls.
So the soup itself - very very good, a Japanese style broth, with fresh seasonal greens and topped with, in this case Chicken, but there were various options including Salmon. very tasty and fresh. So much of it though, that you couldn't possibly have eaten it all.
The noodles also very good, the variety I had was vegetarian, and they were soooo tasty. packed full of tasty fresh veg and nuts... yummy.
Ooo - another point, with the soup you get a sort of weaved spoon - does the job fine though and everything else you get chop sticks. Now I am not really particulary deft with the old chop sticks, but using a shovelling action, it seemed to work!
sat next to us was a child of about 5 and they had wicked childrens chop sticks, which fit together to create a tweaser like effect. I was tempted to ask for some, but everyone seemed quite hip, so i kept quiet.
We also had some of the dumplings, which is one of the side orders, these are also rather good, but beware the dipping sauce which you think is soy sauce, is a very strong and hot version, apply with caution.
The service; was great, a very spritly young man served us and was extremely polite and helpful with a huge grin, which is always nice.
The tables although shared, were fine and you had enough space to be comfortable and were kept immaculate.
most of the mains were around £7-8 and they also do a set meal option on the menu which was about £12. I thought this was reasonable, especially when you consider that the amount of food you get could feed three or four people easily.
the Japanese beer was good too and they also do lovely freshly queezed fruit juices.
As in most Japanese restaurants Green tea is complimentary, I love Green tea, yet I do not frequent Japanese restaurants that often - perhaps I should.
All in all, 'we ate like kings'
try on out yourself. They dont take bookings so just drop by and start munching. Everyone seemed to be welcome, a real mix of people, and of all ages. family friendly too.
