Advantages: Everything is done in style Disadvantages: Very expensive
...If you are looking to live the high life during your stay in New Yorkcity, book in to the Waldorf Astoria hotel. The lobby has to be seen to be believed with a stunning clock and superbly furnished check in desks. They have a number of top quality restaurants ranging from their best offering, the Peacock Alley to the lively Oscar's. the rooms are spacious and well furnished. The room service and maids are of the highest quality, which you would expect paying this much for a hotel room. ...I have always dreamed of going to New York and staying at the Waldorf Astoria, to me it represented the true glamour and romance of the city.
Upon arriving we were tired and just wanted to have a shower and then head off to take in a few of the closer sights. The queue to check in was HUGE, and when we finally got to the front we weren't even greeted with a hello or smile, just got asked for our names, not a good first impression. We wanted to stay there because its such a famous hotel and also because its in a great location to see New York from.
On arrival, we had a slight queue but were greeted by a very pleasant female member of staff who checked us in very efficiently and told us all we needed to know. On being booked in, you cannot help but notice the fabulous lobby which is a city attraction in itself.
The floor our room was located on was being decorated in some areas, and certainly the hallways looked in need of decoration. I have heard a few references from other people...

The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
