Life in Stockholm can be expensive, so we decided to cut costs by staying in this hotel, which is really a bit like a hostel. We stayed there for 3 days and it turned out to be the right choice for us. It cost just £269.50 for 3 nights bed & breakfast
- There is secure parking just a few yards away - they even play music in it through speakers. Automatic doors opened as we approached in the car, then closed again behind us. Once we unloaded we took a ticket and swiped our credit card, then took the stairs to street level. We were only able to get back inside the car park by swiping our credit card
- It's close enough to the centre - being Stockholm there are many 'centres' but from the pretty square of the old town it's a 25-minute walk away
- When you walk inside you get the feeling you just got home - we checked in without trouble. We filled out a short form and were given the key, then were shown to our room. The whole process took just a few minutes
- The room was clean and pretty - much like a bedroom you'd find in a house rather than in a hotel
- There are no en-suite bathrooms in Wasa Park, but there are plenty of toilets and bathrooms just steps away from the rooms. The hotel was full while we were there and we never had to wait for the bathroom
- Breakfast consisted of unlimited coffee, tea, some juice, cereal, rolls, bread, butter and jam and it was served outside our room, in an area arranged like a traditional English tea shop
- Rooms are cleaned daily
- You can come and go as you please, 24 hours a day
- There is free wi-fi
- If coming from the rear of the hotel, bear in mind you need to walk up a couple of floors to reach street level where the front of the hotel is
- You will be given an access code after check-in to enable you to get in from the street without having to ring the bell
- Check out consists of just handing in your key and leaving - all money is paid upfront during check in
This was a great place to stay - excellent value too - and almost made me feel like a teenager again when I used to stay in various hostels - although this is more upmarket (for grown-ups..) I would love to go back there some day, but it's fair to say my husband might stay in a hotel nearby, as he missed his creature comforts. If, like me, however, you are a bit of a hippy at heart then you'll enjoy it.
