well what can i say about watamu marine park. I have been here afew times since i am actually a Kenyan born and bred in mombasa. Who better to give you a review than a local.
Well the first thing is this is a place for those fascinated by marine life if your not then you might as well stay away unless you would like to try and have an open mind well it may change your perception of marine life.
The marine park has all the equipment you need to perform this exercise with friendly staff to cap it up. Good value for money and learned guides who know their way around the indian ocean waters and are very experienced.
There is an abundance of marine life from different types of fish some of which are indeginous to that stretch of coast only and can be found nowhere else. Crystal clear waters though can get abit rough at times.
Coral reefs are of different types and abundant.
well i took my chances and jumped in with the one of the guides into the warm crystal clear water and proceeded to gain knowledge and insight into what the different species of marine life were as we encountered them and enticed them with pieces of bred all this while snorkelling. i was given good number of facts about the different types of coral reef growth found etc.
all in all it was a very good experience worth the money paid for. there is a restaurant at the marine park should you wish to get back the energy expended while snorkelling. It does have fresh sea food dishes and offers a homely experience.
I would recommend this place to anyone with a love for marine life its a place to visit.
