I sometimes meet mates here after work for a pint of Erdinger (happy hour from 5pm to 7pm). When the sun's out there's nothing quite like sitting in the sun on the patio with a chilled beer.
The waterside is situated by the river ... ...with unwelcomed guests on the waterside patio.
The patio also has heaters connected to the outside walls and a covered area which is quite handy if you are eating outside and I imagine the smokers among us will apprieciate that .
The food here is very good, the pizza's are popular and you can chose between margarita, hawaiian, spicy pepperoni, goat's cheese and parma ham.

The waterside is situated by the river dart next to the old bridge and overlooks the Burgh 'Island'. The Island is a strip of land connected to the old bridge and surrounded by water which is popular with visitors. There's a downside to this visitors do sometimes feed the seagull's when they are on the Island this can occasionally cause problems with unwelcomed guests on the waterside patio.

If you want to eat at the restaurant It's recommended to book a few days before as it's very popular and hard to find a table on the night. There is also seating area's in the bar side of the waterside which is obviously not so intimate but which still offers a measure of privacy.
They have a great range of foods a lot of which is sourced locally (ie river teign mussels). The owners are very passionate about using local food suppliers and this is reflected in the menu with seasonal produce.
I particularly recommend the fillet of sea bass with spring onion mash, rocket, basil pesto & balsamic. Other dishes include : pheasant, lamb and roast butternut.
They also have a great range of wines including the locally grown wine from Sharpham vineyards. They have a number of beers on tap including Erdinger (my favorite) and a couple of ale's one of which is from a regional supplier.
There's no parking outside the waterside but there is a car park not far away right on the edge of town (about 5 minute walk from the waterside) it's well sign posted, with a sign directly outside the bar. Avoid the town if possible it can be a bit of a nightmare, especially on market days and the parking in the main street is only for 30 minutes.
Please also note that because much of the food is cooked fresh you might have to wait a little while but it's well worth the wait.
