I think this is meant to be in the "Welcome Cottages" bit of the review, not what it says at the top.
Anyway we first used Welcome Cottages last year when we went to the Isle of Wight for our first cottage holiday.
We'd received their brochure for 2003 the year before and booked our holiday in the October.
The brochure is very colourful with John Noakes (formerly of Blue Peter fame) heading their brochure as well as their website.
The brochure is broken down into sections within England, Wales and Scotland and they have cottages in Ireland and France.
Each cottage has a description of what it is like, how many it sleeps, if the owner will accept pets and the price. The price is based on the PROPERTY not PER PERSON. This is good especially if you are looking for a property to go to over New Year and get friends etc., you can then split the cost of the price.
With cottages based in Ireland and France they give you a price of what it will be with travel (ie ferry) or a price without.
On telephoning to make the booking I found the operators at their call centre very helpful and friendly indeed. They carefully take down all your details and read them back to you over the phone for confirmation. Deposits are £72.00 per property and can be paid by cheque or credit card. Each property has a change over day normally being a Saturday. You find that prices within the school summer holidays tend to be more than any other time of the year.
When corresponding with Welcome Cottages I found them to be very cooperative and helpful which is why we have used them again for our holiday this year to Cornwall!

Advantages: Easy booking process and professional to deal with Disadvantages: They don't inspect the properties themselves and rely on owner descriptions
