Well i did recieve compensation of £24 between 2 of us £12 each which i have to say is more than i was expecting - i had people say that i would be lucky to get £6. although the train ticket itself was nearly £100 i was just glad to get something. i have to say that for the price of tickets on the west coast main line i would rather fly - its a lot less hassle but it is easier to get to the trains.

Virgin Trains are running late again but is it all their fault. There can be a multitude of reasons why the train is delayed, if a rail breaks is it Virgins fault or Railtracks, if some poor unfortunate decides to end it all, is it Virgins fault, or if the Locomotive expires can you than blame Virgin, I would say in 8 out of 10 cases no.
Let me explain, when Virgin took over the running of Cross Country trains and WestCoastTrains it inherited a fleet of locomotives and rolling stock some of which are almost 40 years old. These locomotives had been run into the ground by British Rail and were for all intent and purpose life expired before Virgin took over.
Diesel and Electric locomotives are operated daily by Virgin, the diesels falling into two categories, the relatively modern High Speed Train known as the Intercity 125 ...

It's coming up for the party season again so I have recently spent rather a lot of time making travel arrangements, one method of travel I seem to utilise rather alot these days comes in the shape of the WestCoast Mainline, between Manchester/Stockport and London Euston, while in a previous life time I was very familiar with the Manchester/Edinburgh section of this same line, this route is operated by Virgin Trains and has been for several years.
Thankfully these days the booking process is somewhat easier than it used to be, having to go in to the train station to book tickets I always found a somewhat draining experience as there was invariably a queue of people apparently wanting to purchase tickets for the next train due and only one counter open, now you can book online at one of several sites, my preference is virgins own, but ...
