Landlords Kelvin and Karen welcome you to the West India House website - "the country pub in the town" as they describe it.

The pub apparently welcomes Coach Parties, though thankfully there where none there on our night, and is also used as a drinks stop.
Not a huge car park and can fit in about 25 cars.

West India House Pub. ****************** We where recently invited to a 30th wedding anniversary at this pub and I thought I would write a review on its location and facilities, first one I've done on a pub.
Description: ********* Landlords Kelvin and Karen welcome you to the West India House website - "the country pub in the town" as they describe it.
The building as you see it today was constructed around 1936 as one of the first buildings in Durleigh Road, in the market town of Bridgwater, Somerset, but had been a pub for many years previously, deriving its name from the days when Bridgwater was a bustling port.
It is believed to have been owned by a merchant with the West India Trading Company, whose ships delivered goods to the quayside in the town centre.
The pub in General: **************** The pub apparently welcomes Coach Parties, though thankfully there where none there on our night, and is also used as a drinks stop. Not a huge car park and can fit in about 25 cars. Surprisingly dogs, not just guide doge, but any dog is allowed on the pub premises as long as they are kept on a lead.
The Public Bar: ************ The Public Bar contains the usual, dartboard, juke box, Plasma TV, Sky Channels and there is occasional live music. Here there are the real ales and some good bar food.
The Lounge: ********** The Lounge is more of a quiet and relaxed room with an atmosphere for socialising.
The Beer Garden: ************** This is at the rear of the pub alongside the Skittle Alley building, it is a large south facing garden and there are benches for sitting and chilling out on. Here we had our party with the pub providing a marquee and facilities for the hog roast, DE-LISH.
The Skittle Alley: ************* The skittle Alley is to the rear of the pub. A long building, built after the original pub. When used a function room a disco can be put at one end and a small bar at the other. The skittle alley opens onto the extensive garden with spectacular views and containing tables, chairs and a children's play area.
Opinions: ******* The pub was quite small but this actually made it more friendly and cosy. The Garden to the rear really was massive and the views where quite spectacular! The toilet facilities in the Skittle alley where a little disappointing having only one men's and one ladies right next to each other and having more than a few cobwebs and spiders hanging about. The staff though where friendly and welcoming.
The real Ale was tasty and cheap, stayed off the cider this time though! Oh and the Hog roast was delish.
All in all a nice pub in a great location and with good facilities.
