I decided to write a review on this Water Park as we had such a good day out there. We went for a day trip to The Western Water Park while we were in Majorca on holiday last summer (2006) The attraction opens up at 10.00
******** Background*******
As we were staying at the Barcelo hotel (see Op) in Cala d’Or we were offered by our First choice reps if we wanted to attended any of the local trips. We unfortunately couldn’t go to see the pirate show as we had a young child so we opted to go the Western Water Park instead. As we had made quite a good friendship with another family we asked if they wanted to come along with us so the children could play along together. So we all went along to the next Rep meeting and booked our day out.
********Costs & Travelling ********
Western Water Park is a family-oriented destination just outside the Majorcan resort of Magaluf. The trip to Western Water Park we found the pricing wasn’t to bad, compared to some English places.
Prices below are for a full day visit which is 7 Hours of fun:
Adult £13.70 or 21€ Child 0-2 free Child 3 - 12 £9.45 or 13€ Child over 12 Adult price applies
On the day of the trip we all had to walk up to the main pick up point which was about a 10 minute walk. As the Reps are selling the day out to all there local hotels we all waited together at the fun fair town centre. This was a bit confusing as all the coaches where there picking up other holiday makers for different trips so finding our coach was a bit of a nightmare. Finally we found our coach, showed the driver our receipt and off we went. I was much relived to find we had quite a good quality coach, it had air-conditioning which in the middle of summer you need. The trip took roughly an hour to get to the water park (Magaluf) from our resort in Cala d’or. It was quite a relaxing drive to the park, we sang some songs and then just admired the country side as we drove past, we did spot the football stadium on route through Palma.
*********The western Water Park***********
On arrival, we noticed a good old queue for the gates, great we all thought but the staff noticed that our coach had arrived and opened up the side gate to let us in quicker - great! On entering the Park it is wonderful and quite breath taking as it is so clean and very well maintained. After walking approximately 10meters you cross a big wooden bridge to get across one of the rides. You are given a map once on the other side and you will need the map to get around, as the place is quite large. This place is a combination of the conventional pleasures of a large water park with a wild-west theme - 'wild wet' We finally found a lovely grass area with sun loungers and set ourselves up, you have to pay for the bed’s about 2€ a bed. There are plenty of beds spread across this park in all areas. After we had settled ourselves in and applied the sun lotion to us and the children off we went to explore.
*******Kids Waterland******
This was the first one we ventured too, as we wanted Jaime to have the fun. This was a great Island for children of all ages really. It is a multi-coloured climbing frame with chutes and bars to climb. There is a huge bucket on top which over time fills up and once it is full it flips and soaks everyone inside playing. As you can imagine Jaime only being two it scared the life out of him at first, mind you I don’t think the temperature of the water help as it was very cold. My boyfriend took him in and they had a lovely time in there playing away, Leah aged 3 (the other family) enjoyed herself and ran in and out of the huge tunnel that runs along side of the watered area. (I have attached a photo of this at the bottom). This activity is not a pool based as the water only goes past your ankle to mid calf, so quite safe for young children. We must have stayed at this location for at least a good 40 minutes to an hour.
********Bath House*******
This the second one we visited, it is a large wild west barn type building and in side there are 3 very large Jacuzzis and massive walk in showers. These are mixed and anyone can get in them. It is very hot in the building 1 because of the weather and 2 the bubbling warm water. It can be very packed in here and smells highly of chlorine. We didn’t experience the full effect due to a small children but looked lovely. I would really say relaxing with the amount of people who were sat in them.
******** Main Street Strip********
Upon leaving the Bath House we walked down the main street. I suppose it reminded me of a cowboy film guns at noon ha, but it was very authentic setting. Along the main street is where all the restaurants are, more seating and other activities. It is about 500 -600 meters long and has numerous seating on route, either sun loungers or patio chairs. . ********Mega Slide******
Now I never actually went along on this ride my boyfriend and the other family went on this. There are restrictions on this ride maximum people is 4 adults and minimum is 2 adults as it is a big round ring/boat. They went on as 3 adults and 1 child. They had a great time and had one scary moment as John and Danny (Boyfriend) are not the smallest of men and are quite muscular on the last bend I remember thinking oh no they are going to flip but phew they didn’t… but this was our topic of conversation for at least the next 10-15 minutes I had filmed it on camcorder - replaying it them all. The faces were priceless!! This ride does take a while as it travels around one half of the park.
********The Beast******
After getting over their near flip experience the men (boys) seen The Beast and made a run for it. There a re 4 slides at The Beast, all different colours:
Yellow - Now this is a huge huge huge water slide. I wouldn’t know where to start as to say the height of this slide. But the queue for this ride can tail back for up to 40 minutes so be warned. This slide is like a sheer straight down drop death slide which then takes you into the pool down below at some speed. Id say not for people with heart conditions. The boys loved this slide and said the waiting in the queue was totally worth while, even the bruises on there backs didn’t put them off.
Blue - is slightly more titled than the yellow route and not so high, another great slide and the queues are also quite long as this one is more popular with holiday makers.
Green - this slide has a tunnel effect over the top and is level with the Blue ride.
Orange - this ride has a chute over at the top of the ride and then drops in a steep slide into the pool below.
Be aware that all the rides can get very busy, especially in summer, with 40-minute waits for some rides.
************Tam Tam Splash*******
We only briefly visited here as we were running out of time but we wanted to try and get round the whole park before we left. This part was amazing and was quite saddened we didn’t get to spend more time here. This section has two built up walls with a broken bridge type with buckets on top which again fill up and flip soaking you below great fun and the water level is only ankle deep. You can see everyone is waiting for the bucket to fill and flip and the screams, makes you laugh. This pool does however declines and it is quite deep at the back but it is very gradual. It can hold a lot of people as I’d say the largest pool section in the park with a good amount of sun loungers and toilet facilities near by.
********Daky Park*******
This the last section we got to visit before our coach arrived to pick us up (boo). This was a lovely section with grass areas and sun loungers. The water area was built in a circular shape and not very deep it had a herd of buffalo crossing over (iron models) this was a great idea and the small children loved them. Mothers took pictures of the kids sitting on them, or standing next to them. We managed to sit down on the grass area and have a well deserved Ice-cream. It is quite popular with small child families who wish to relax and soak up the rays. The best place to go to chill out before returning home well hotel. The other places we missed was
Los 4Diablos - Toboggan chute
Crazy racer - Slides with Mats
wild river - Doughnut rings
Tornado - Doughnut ring in a dark chute
Huracan - don’t know
Tijuana Twins - 2 toboggan’s wrapped around each other.
*********Other Shows around the Park*******
The Oliver Water show is a diving display, This is a fantastic show you have to watch!! We really enjoyed this show and it even caught the eye of my little boy who was glued start to finish. We managed to get a sitting on an early viewing, and found it hilarious. The children (Of all ages) all sat in there seats and cheered on the bad guys and booed the sheriff great performances. It is based on a convict who is trying to escape from the law, and has very funny turns. The main part is the diver jumps from 30 meters into the pool, which to watch is amazing stuff. Be aware if your sitting in the front row you could get wet. At the Oliver’s show we got our photo taken wearing the Cowboy hat and Guns with the team on entrance, which you can purchase after the show on the main street. This was priced at approximately £3 but it is a memory of your day
The saloon offers can-can dancers and knife-throwers perform. We unfortunately did not get to watch this performance but was told it was very good and food was served as you ate.
*******Gift shop & Toilets ***** The gift shop is quite a small shop but has ample items for sale. You can purchase confectionary, T-Shirts with western Water Park, postcards and loads of other souvenirs for your day trip out. The main toilet are situated next the gift shop and are well maintained and smelt ok for mid summer heat. There are a few other toilets situated around the park, so you don’t have to keep walking back to the beginning of the park.
*******Snack Bars ******As you can imagine in the middle of the summer in Majorca it is pretty hot and you can get a thirst on, Which is why I was quite impressed with this park. There is little snack bars situated along the way selling:
Drinks - Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Oasis, water etc
Ice-Cream/Ice-Lollies
Doughnuts - mmmm the smell of fresh doughnuts get to everyone
Waffles - with a choice of toppings
****Advice *****
When you arrive at the park, you should get yourself a locker as it saves having to carry all your clothes and cameras around with you. Although be warned: zealous attendants sometimes limit the number of times you can access your belongings before they start charging you extra.
If your thinking of going back more than once you should consider buying the tickets that are valid for the entire summer.
The Western Water Park Magaluf is open all year round.
It is located at Carretera Cala Figuera Sa Porrasa 12-22, telephone 971 131 203.
Advantages: different to most other water parks, something for everyone Disadvantages: none!
Western water park is about the same price as the others, but its better. It had more variety, more slides and more stuff for the kids to do too.
First of all there are the slides. I've been told that Aqualand is the same wherever you go, which is why we went here. Western park has some huge slides (the beast) etc - one tip though, The Beast is a 30foot drop, but the orange one at the side of it is more scary as you actually lift off from the slide. ... ...There are 2 slides involving the rings that you sit in, the open air one is the best. Also, go on the Tornado which is one where two of you sit one behind the other. I wont tell anyone what it does but its wicked. There are the usual twisty slides and that, and one where you go down head first on floats which is cool. Then there is a wave pool, which didnt seem to have any waves while we were there, not sure of the reason as nobody told us. There ...

Advantages: great rides great facilities Disadvantages: queues in summer
The western water park is by far the best waterpark i hav ever been to. I have been to both the Aquapark and the Aquacity parks and this one outshines them both. When this park opened across from the Aquapark i didnt think think it would be any better but i have been returning each time i am in Majorca.
The western water park offers something for all the family. There is many areas that are specially for the kids for example kids waterland and daky ... ...kids have fun.
The park offers many facilities and places to eat unlike the other waterparks. There may be some queues in the summer however these tend to go down quite quick.
Overall the western water park is great value for money and well worth a visit. ...

Advantages: Pool, room, plenty of sunbeds Disadvantages: Indoor entertainment, no air con
Returned after a 2 week stay Aug 08, 2 adults 3 children 13, 12 and 7. My main complaint with this hotel (apart from no air con!) was that the evening entertainment took place in doors. Us Brits don't get much chance to experience warm balmy summer evenings, I think the hotel would benefit from an outside stage.
Pool was fab, food was fine, it did get repetative as it does in all AI hotels after 2 weeks and was far better than the Chinese in the village with it's fluorescent multi coloured prawn crackers!
We hired a car from Eny in the village (this was the cheapest) for 4 days, hotel supplied picnic boxes which kids loved. We visited Valldemossa, Palma, Westernwaterpark and the pirate show.
We all took part in the daytime activities and had great fun. My 7 year old played giant connect 4 against the teenagers and thrashed them ...
Advantages: Immaculate hotel, great entertainment team, lovely location and superb food. Disadvantages: Remoteish location, lacking room facilities and the damn bingo!
a result as we were adopted as native Mallorceans for Euro 2008. The entertainment was all outside which was lovely in the cool air of the evening and the bar had a good variety of cheap local ales and speciality cocktails for adults and children. The entertainment only went on till half eleven so if you are one of those people who want an all nighter this perhaps is not the hotel for you. On the other hand,we quite liked the fact we could function in the morning!
If you do want to get away from the hotel it is quite easy. There are buses to Palma and Magalluf and once in Magalluf you can go pretty much anywhere. Despite the hotel being considered quite remote we managed a day trip to Palma, a boat trip around the island and a trip to both the Pirates show and WesternWaterPark. Busses are very cheap and air conditioned although we found ...
Advantages: Great entertainment, great location, great food. Disadvantages: Some people are never satisfied with what the staff do.
parks in Majorca these are WesternWaterPark which features bird shows and acrobatic pool dives along with some thrilling rides or Aqua land, one with not so so thrilling rides but the ones that are thrilling there is more of.
Katmandu a recent build in Magalluf is another great attraction for family's; it is an upside down house that inside you follow the myths of the Yeti whalsed seeing some amazing adventures (I have done a review of Katmandu on Ciao).
