Summary
The Westhill Hotel in St Helier, Jersey is a very nice three-star hotel. The hotel itself is a little dated in some parts (in no way that would detract from your holiday though) but the beauty and convenience of the outdoor area and the friendly and very helpful staff more than make up for it.
Detail
It's very hard to find someone dissatisfied with their stay at the Westhill. Many people say that you get what you pay for, but in the case of the Westhill, that is untrue. You get more than what you pay for.
The hotel itself is located in the rural outskirts of St Helier (about half an hours walk away from the centre). I would recommend walking to and from the hotel but as the walk to St Helier is downhill, the walk back to the hotel is uphill. Although, that said, if you do not own a car or you have not rented one the hotel does offer a minibus service that ferries people between the hotel and St Helier five times a day.
The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, if a bit dated. It could do with a bit of a 'modernisation' but is nevertheless great as it is. The bar is a great place to sit and have a drink with friends or family or to unwind after a stressful day. At times you can even be treated to a visit by the hotel owners dogs as they are generally free to wander around the ground floor and garden/pool area of the hotel. As expected, the dogs are very friendly and are very used to people. Their size (they are Newfoundland dogs) can be intimidating but they are big softies and you will rarely even hear them bark, let alone cause any trouble. The only trouble you may get is if you are sitting outside eating food ordered from the hotel (which the staff will bring to you while you lounge in the sun), the dog/s may try to guilt you into giving them some with their big sad eyes.
Speaking of the outdoor area, the garden is very beautiful and a great place to unwind after a long day. There are two pools, a shallow childrens pool for young children and a larger more average-sized pool, with a good amount of sun loungers surrounding them. There is a small kiosk right by the swimming pool where you can order drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). You can also order food at the kiosk and when it is ready, a member of staff comes out of the hotel and brings it to you while you catch some sun on the sun loungers. There is also a jacuzzi in which you can sit in that is situated right next to the pool.
The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. I have heard that some rooms have been renovated since my stay but as I haven't been there since, I can't really comment.
The staff were very friendly and very helpful, it almost seemed as if they would do anything to help you enjoy your stay.
Overall, my stay was an excellent one and I would not hesitate staying at the Westhill again. As a result, I highly recommend staying at the Westhill if you are in Jersey and are in need of accommodation.

From what you've said it does sound nice - but you haven't put the price of anything, so can't tell if it's value for money or not! x

Sounds lovely! I would love the dogs too although I am well used to the pleading eyes whenever food is about as my daughter has a labrador who does the same thing! xx
