Advantages: Beautiful, clean hospitable hotel, bargain price
Disadvantages: Cant think of any

I stayed here for 5 days in late November 2008. I would definately recommend. Doubletree is a Hilton hotel and you get what you expect from that brand here. There was a shuttle service from St Louis Airport, which was free, the car park was also free and they bake delicious fresh cookies behind the front desk, which they hand out liberally, also FREE. There was also an ATM machine and small selection of drinks, snacks and toiletries you could purchase. There was a nice bar with widescreen tv and very comfortable sofas and chairs. The was also a restaurant although I didnt use it. I booked through the American Airlines website ( AAdvantage members) and got the luxury room for $80 a night, which was around £45 based on the exchange rate when I booked which is outstanding for the hotel of this calibre. Cigarettes and Alcohol...and Rollerblading

Advantages: A quite unique hillwalking experience...
Disadvantages: ...which is both a blessing and a curse

a disapproving eye across the multiple misdemeanours committed on the road network. Radio Kerry even does the death announcements immediately after the 9am news and weather...'well, we do love a good requiem mass' as my landlady put it. But indisputably the biggest symbol of the Catholic faith is the one that rears 2510ft into the air on the Mayo coast near the town of Westport: quite possibly the most brazen landmark on the whole Emerald Isle...Ireland's Holy Mountain, St Patrick's Stack. Native Irish speakers know it as Cruach Phádraig. The majority know it as Croagh Patrick. And to one expatriate Englishman (sorry Dave), it's 'that fecking Reek'. The First Golden Cleric You'd have thought that 'being Welsh' would constitute a crippling obstacle on the path to 'becoming patron saint of Ireland'. But Maewyn Succat was made of sterner stuff ...

OAK WOOD ARMS HOTEL SHANNON

Advantages: Very good Hotel, great service
Disadvantages: In the wrong place.

Just back from a weekend Jaunt to Ireland. We flew Ryanair Eastmidlands to Shannon, £38 return (No hold luggage and online checkin). We booked the Oakwood Arms at Shannon, this was mainly as our return flight was 09:30 Monday morning and we did not want to get up early to travel. We booked it thru LATEROOMS.COM for 85 Euros a night for Double room with Buffet Breakfast. Ireland seems to be pricey for Hotels, so this was not too bad (We do cheaper when we go Venice). We had hired a Car so after picking that up it was just a 10 min Drive into Shannon and the Hotel. First Impressions were very good, better than most of the reviews we had read. Its a low level building on the edge of Shannon, not that there's much in the middle of Shannon, just seems to be a Housing Estate. Checkin looks very smart and professional ...
