I've been to many Wetherspoons pubs all over the UK... and I have to say I've never been let down. Infact I was so impressed... I bought the company (well actually I just bought some shares in the company).
No Wetherspoons pubs have music in them which makes them unique, Why? you ask.. Wetherspoons do this to encourage conversation between its customers. It works really well, you'll find yourself talking to people you've never met before.
Quite a few of their pubs have been converted from buildings such as banks, car showrooms, cinemas & parliment buildings. Theres a real feel of class in each pub, no plastic seats in here, its just like being at home.
Many of the buildings have won design & food awards... I doubt that McDonalds can say that about any of their outlets!
The food quality is everything you'd expect from your small local pub but better... and all at a fraction of the price. Big servings of food thats actually been cooked, not just warmed up (McDonalds) and drinks that haven't been watered down too much (Yate's). Unlike other places this is no dress code although there is a limit. But it means that you can wear trainers.
Sound too good to be true? Trust me its not.

We've got 2 in Portsmouth, one just opened recently and there is a choice of 5 drinks,
Grolsch, Becks, Source, Hooch and Reef for just £1 (for 1 that it!). Can't beat that. Angie

Good opinion and so true. For a tenner in my local Wetherspoon's I can get 4 TVRs and a pint of Miller! Can't be bad.

Wetherspoon brought new life to one of the old streets in Edinburgh's new town. They bought an old bank building which no one else could use and turned it into a pub. It is great! .. however, the day I took people from work to it we ended up waiting 40 minutes for our food, that's not good in an 60 minute lunch break!
