    Advantages Advantages Cheap, Cheap, Cheap!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Dirty tables

I've now had a drink and/or eaten in a great many Wetherspoons around Britain and I feel that I am justified in reviewing them. As I start writing this I'm unsure how it is going to turn out as I've had varying degrees of service ranging from a couple of instances of truly awful to excellent. However, the good outweighs the bad - but is it enough to get a glowing report?….read on. I'm going to focus on the main Wetherspoons pubs and touch very briefly on the Lloyds Bar brand. ~~~History and Background~~~ JD Wetherspoons was established in 1979 by a law student named Tim Martin. Tim bought the ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap food and drink

Disadvantages Disadvantages Manky tables, out of stock of many items

Wetherspoons, home of the cheap beer and two main meals for £5.99 deal. If you haven't been to a Spoonies or Lloyds bar where have you been?! Mind you, it could just be that you go to classier joints than me, so let's just leave it at that. There are several branches across Manchester, I have based my review on the Lloyds no. 1 bar, a branch of Wetherspoons in the Printworks. On walking in it has a very modern, casual atmosphere, The music is loud enough to be heard clearly, but not so intrusive that you can't have a decent conversation. As you would expect, it's a mix of different modern ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent food, wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not got as far as Cornwall...yet.

J D Wetherspoon is a fast-growing chain of freehouses which has been trading since 1979.There are Wetherspoons outlets in most parts of the country and new outlets are due to open in 2001.Sadly for my husband and me, they are yet to open any premises in Cornwall where we holiday every year…but we live in hope. (No offence to any of the Duchy’s most excellent drinking establishments!) The pubs are run on the basis of providing excellent drinks and delicious, value for money food, in pleasant, convivial surroundings. The novelty of many of Wetherspoons pubs is that they have often ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap food and drink, great variety

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dodgy food at times

I am reviewing JD Wetherspoon bar and restaurant Who are they J D Wetherspoon plc (LSE: JDW) (commonly referred to as Wetherspoons) is a British pub chain, founded by Tim Martin in 1979.[1] It is based in Watford and is listed on the London Stock Exchange, where it is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. The Bar: I am regular customer at my local JD Wetherspoon, there is actually two in my home city and I would go to the both of them, depending on what events are going on. I would go to this bar because as I am a student, it's the cheapest in the town. And on many occasions their BLUE WKDs are ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap drinks, nice tasty food

Disadvantages Disadvantages no music so no dancing!

Wetherspoons is my favourite pub, it provides a place everyone can go because there is no music (so people can't complain they don't like the type of music!), it has really nice, tasty food that isn't too expensive and most importantly the drinks are REALLY cheap. I am a student and find that this is one of the very few places that I can go and get drinks for not much more than union prices! You don't have to go on a special night (like student night or some other promotion)to get the good drinks offers - they are there every night! Examples at the moment are lemon hooch for 99p per bottle, £4 ... more
