Wetherspoons is my favourite pub, it provides a place everyone can go because there is no music (so people can't complain they don't like the type of music!), it has really nice, tasty food that isn't too expensive and most importantly the drinks are REALLY cheap.
I am a student and find that this is one of the very few places that I can go and get drinks for not much more than union prices! You don't have to go on a special night (like student night or some other promotion)to get the good drinks offers - they are there every night! Examples at the moment are lemon hooch for 99p per bottle, £4.99 for a bottle of house wine, £2.99 for a red bull and double vodka and £1.49 for a pint. These prices make them a very cheap pub and therefore the reason it is full of all sorts of people.
The food they sell is really nice as well and very resonably priced for the large portions and variety you get. They do a special deal invloving a beer and a burger for £2.99 and other meals range from sandwiches, jackets, nachos and wraps to roast dinners (sundays only), fish and chips and some very nice desserts!
J.D.Wetherspoons is a chain of pubs that can be found in almost every town across the UK and in cities you will find many. They are always fairly busy but in the evenings (esp fri and sat) they are packed and it can be hard to get to the bar, but they are worth it. It has a very good atmosphere and all teh pubs are different across the country. This is a welcome change to some other pub chains where all their pubs have a very similar feel to them!
All in all I think that Wetherspoons has definetly got the right idea when it comes to pubs, although not a brillant place to dance the night away, its excellent for a few drinks and a chat before moving on elsewhere.
P.S beware of differing prices across the country, depending on the sort of area you are in!!
