I can really recommend a day out at Weymouth Sealife Centre, because I felt that it was a fun, educational, and a tranquil family day out, and thought the place was worthy of a really good review on CIAO.
Tranquility is something which is rare to find on many family days out, which is why I also thought Weymouth Sea Life Centre deserved a special mention.
If you combine visiting this attraction with a good cheap nights rest at the Premier Inn ((http://www.premierinn.co.uk/). the night before, and then a leisurly breakfast at the Brewers Fayre (Lodmor Inn nextdoor to Premier Inn and two minutes walk from Sea Life Centre), you should hopefully be in the right frame of mind for getting the best from this attraction.
All
the walking between the Travel Lodge, the Lodmoor Inn, and around the Sea Life centre was on the flat and I believe was wheel chair friendly, and there were not really any big distances between the various mini attractions of the Sea Life Centre, which unlike larger zoos and other family attractions I have visited, where family of differing ages, concentration and physical abilities can get quite tired or bored doing the distances, this was not the case with the Sealife Centre.
The only problem that I encountered was that my youngest son did not want to go is some of the marine life exhibition pods because they were quite dark, but the aquariums were lit, however with eventual encouragement he did go in and was fascinated by the various sea life creatures which we saw. I especially liked the dark room where the jelly fish were made to look luminous by the lighting affects which made them look like they were floating and glowing in the dark. At an outside exhibit the children were given an opportunity to stroke a crab. Unfortunately we missed feeding times, but I believe there are opportunities to see the animals being fed, and feed the stingrays. What added reality to the sealife centre, is that with some of the pods you were hit by the smell of the sea, at first you might think of it as a stench if you are not familiar with the smell and not had a relaxing break around the sea in a long while, but then you get used to the smell of the sea and seeing the sealife creatures and hearing the relaxing 'meditation ??' music which is played constantly as you walk around, and you can almost feel like you have been beamed off to another world, as you walk through tunnels with sharks and turtles swiming above you. There is also a small model village, which you will see between the sealions and one of the other attractions.
I noticed that the park was really quiet, not many people, I don't know if that is a result of the economic downturn or just the season, or a bit of both. Which meant that we could do it at a leisurly pace without feeling moved along by crowds, I don't know if that changes in the summer months. There was adequate seating at the time for my pregnant wife to take regular rests, but a bit more seating around would have helped in some indoor pods. We did have a very restful time all four of us just sitting in the shark nursery alone as a family. There was an attraction with rides for the children and a small amusement arcade, for children to let their hair down after doing all the educational stuff. I also noticed water fountains and small paddling pool around cafe area which will probably be open for children to paddle in, in the summer months.
Difficult for me to cover from memory everything I saw on the visit, but I can recommend the day out as well worth it. Here is a quote from their website which may give you a better idea about what else is there. "Weymouth SEA LIFE Adventure Park & Marine Sanctuary is unique among the network of SEA LIFE attractions in that its numerous marine life exhibitions are housed - not under one roof - but in separate pods within a landscape that also hosts a number of other outdoor features. The latter includes otter and seal sanctuaries, and the Park's resident colony of Humboldt penguins."

Sounds like a fairly nice place to visit. I'll have to pop in there if I'm in Weymouth again. Nice review.

Sounds like a good place - would like to have a look if I'm in that area. Per your 'About Me', as the below commenter said, this is one of the many reasons I would never join a 'social networking' site! The same thing just happened to one of my friends recently on both Facebook and, much more embarrassingly, a dating website she had just joined!
