Goodlooking people, Breathtaking vistas, World class runs and a night life to boot. Now there is no reason for ski buffs not to make a trip to Whistler to discover a new favourite resort. Only one and a half hours out of gorgeous Vancouver, Whistler makes an ideal three day getaway in both the summer and winter months.
In the summer the ski runs are opened to mountain bikers and hikers and the glacial lakes are absolutely stunning and refreshing to swim in. Accomadation prices are lower in the summer at all of the hotels and lodges and there are often group rates available.
The winter months are what really make Whistler come alive. Set at the base of Blackcombe mountain, skiers can enjoy a dual mountain pass for as little as $62 a day which gives unlimited access to some of the most stunning and challenging runs in the world. For the beginners, there are a host of Green rated runs and top notch instructors. It is never below -10degrees celcius and snow is abundant usually daily. With over ten lifts (two quad lifts) fully operational, lift queues are kept to an extreme minimum. Mid-mountain, Pika's restaurant offers skiers a quick snack or full course meal (depedning on appetite) at a fairly reasonable price. The village at the base of both mountains is where the life is though.
After dark, there are two clubs in the village, both with drink specials nightly and both with large crowds of young ambitious partyers. Restaurants and pubs stay open until 3am as well. To add to the lifestyle, there is a large amount of shopping to be done in the village with shops such as Levi's Body Shop, Quicksilver and Gap all within a five minute walk of the hotels. The atmosphere and attitudes around Whistler make it all worthwhile.
Everyone is there for a good time, skiers of all levels are welcome on the slopes but if there are non-skiers in the travelling party, they will never grow bored for the abundance of things to do off slope. With its close proximity to Vancouver yet it's away-from-it-all atmosphere and location, Whistler is second to none for ski/getaway resorts.

Advantages: Friendly, informative, good snow, excellent skiing, cheap meals, quick moving queues Disadvantages: long journey and price of flight, we had to get a bus to the lifts
