We paid £320 for one week in a Kenwyn Caravan which had 3 bedrooms, a shower room and toilet, a kitchen and then a lounge diner. There were four of us staying there, me and my partner and 2 16 year olds.
The caravan was a good size and ... ...airy. There was plenty of room for us all to sit at the table and in fact we could also all lie around on the sofas.
There was a DVD player and TV with 4 channels in the caravan. You can buy DVDs at the shop near the reception. We bought some when we were out because they were cheaper. We have just returned from a week away at White Acres in Newquay. We were greeted by very friendly helpful staff as we arrived after the office had shut. We were given the key and directly to our caravan,
We paid £320 for one week in a Kenwyn Caravan which had 3 bedrooms, a shower room and toilet, a kitchen and then a lounge diner. There were four of us staying there, me and my partner and 2 16 year olds.
The caravan was a good size and we did not feel too claustrophobic. It was light and airy. There was plenty of room for us all to sit at the table and in fact we could also all lie around on the sofas.
There was a DVD player and TV with 4 channels in the caravan. You can buy DVDs at the shop near the reception. We bought some when we were out because they were cheaper. You could of course bring some down with you. The only thing was we were told in the literature that it was a video player not a DVD player but I am sure this information will be updated in due course.
When we arrived the toaster was not working but this was rectified very quickly and with no fuss by reception. There was a gas cooker in the caravan and although we did go out occassionally we did use it. It wasn't the greatest of ovens and took ages to heat up but it did the job eventually. There were plenty of pots and pans in the caravan and also cutlery and plates, cups and glasses.
The shower was great, and there was always plenty of hot water. All the linen was supplied but the towels weren't. We had to take our own.
There was the facility to hire certain items from the reception like a bale of towels, iron and ironing board, high chair. The cost was around £2 per day for most items.
There was a laundry on site which was £3.60 for a wash and the a tumble dryer which was £1 for 15 minutes. We were saving pounds and 20ps up all holiday. It was useful to have the facility there though.
As the weather was not great it was difficult to dry our towels. There was a raditator in the main bedroom and the bathroom and a gas fire in the lounge. The radiators could be left on but the gas fire couldn't. We were staying there for the first week in April so it was pretty chilly in the mornings and when we came in in the evenings but it soon warmed up. As we had some lovely sunny days we found that as soon as we opened the curtains that the sun heated the place up very quickly.
The facilities on site I thought were really good,. There was a gym which I did use 3 times - not bad considering we were on holiday! There was two each of a running machine and ycling machine. Then there was one each of a cross trainer and rowing machine. There were sit up bars and then lots of different weights and a fit ball too. There was water available in there too. The only thing was it was not air conditioned and consequently was very hot once you got going!
The swimming pool was indoor and heated , there were liftguards around at all times. There was also a sauna and a jacuzzi.
The gym, swimming pool and jacuzzi were free of charge and there were also sunbeds which cost £2 for 5 minutes.
The leisure centre was open from 9am to 6pm and cosed for an hour at lunchtime.
At the main centre, where the reception was there was a fish and chip shop, arcade, pizzeria, pub, costcutter shop, bowling lanes, burger bar and a club where there was cabaret.
The bar had big screens where football was mainly watched. The only thing was that the bar was very smokey but I imagine that would change as the new smoking laws come into place.
There was lots of entertainment put on although we didn't participate as it was mainly geared up to smaller kids and families.
We did find that there were lots of guys there fishing. In fact we fond out there were 14 lakes on site and quie a lot of the guys were there en masse for fishing weekends/weeks! The good thing for the ladies was that there was a beauty salon there where you could have a massage, nails done, facials, hair done - all kinds!
So you could pretty much dump the kids off at the activity place, husband could go fishing and wife could be pampered!!
I thought it was great value for money and well worth going. I love the area too, there are loads of places to visit. We went to Newquay and had surfing lessons down at Fistral Beach - £25 for 2.5 hours with all the kit too. You didn't need experience either.
Padstow was beautiful - I could have spent loads of time just walking round the shops. Truro was a nice city and the shops were good too.
We als went to Goonhilly which was a really interesting place to go - run by BT all about communication.
Even though the entertainment was geared to younger children, we still had loads to keep us amused and loads to do during the day time. The reception area had lots of information so we gathered that and sat and read through. I cold have quite happily spent 2 weeks there and still wouldn't have been bored.
Cornwall is such a beautiful place to explore and lots to do for all ages.
Advantages: Good location, good space in caravan, plenty of on-site facilities Disadvantages: General appearance of the leisure complex could be improved
...It is situated in the White Cross area, about 8 miles away from Newquay. You can take your car to Newquay for quite expensive car parking (£2 - 3 per hour) or take the local bus to Newquay just outside the park at the main road, A392. There are various supermarkets such as Morrisons, Co-op within a few miles for your self-catering supplies if you don’t want to use the little shop on site. Check in (and out) After a very long journey (6 hour driving ... ...the morning, we managed to arrive at late afternoon just before 4pm, the official start of check-in. The office closes at 11pm and after that the security will take care of the keys handling over, with prior notice of late arrival. The staff at the reception was polite and gave us a brief explanation of what to do as a first timer on the site and then we were given the keys, the passes to the leisure complex and direction/map to our caravan. We were ...

Advantages: fishing lake Disadvantages: bad transport to newquay low food standards for a 5* park
having worked at white acres Holiday park and going by other customers opinions gathered from work many have told me that the price for a caravan for a week , considering location (is advertised as newquay but is 8 miles from town) with some customers paying up to 800 pounds per week to stay in a caravan many have been disappointed.
i was also told how over the past 4 years regular holiday makers who use the park yearly have commented that the park ... ...are generally depressing for the price.
the chip shop and other facilities are closed at a very early time. the inside take away in the main complex building does not stay open for long enough.
since the new owner has purchased the park this current season we have observed lower standards in housekeeping and maintainence, due to cut backs. any sense use haven holidays. ...

Quick review of White Acres Holiday Park - Newquay
I own a Caravan at white acres and have done for some time now. I agree with the Employee. Standards are poor, the new manager is poor and i would advise that you go somewhere else too.
If an Employee and Caravan owner doesn't convince you then what will? ...

Where is it?
The Eden project is situated near St. Austell, east Cornwall between A390 and A391. Since we were staying at the WhiteAcresholidaypark (White Cross area new Newquay), it is about 35 ? 40 minutes drive on a fine day. However it was a rainy day. It took longer than an hour because the area close to the Eden project is quite foggy in the morning with the rain and we went there in late July this year. As it was our first time, it took even longer to navigate along the long-winded path into the car parks. We arrived there just after 9:00 a.m. and there were a lot of people already.
How much does cost to enter in Summer 2009?
Adults £16.00 £15.00 (pre-booked) £12.00 (walker/cyclist)
Seniors (60 ...
