The WhyNot? club on George Street isn't too bad at all.
I suspect it's pretty much part of the Dome though... and you might not want to be linked to such a snoby club.

Advantages: a good variety of different nights Disadvantages: expensive entry fees
It is based on edinburghs George street, it is a relitively new club that is quite smart and on the pricier end of the market for edinburgh. Throughout the week it has many different nights often promoted by students from the University, one of the best is Flare, a seventies night every other monday. it is five pounds to get in and four pounds if you are dressed up. worth venturing to if you fancy witnessing the antics of alot of extremely drunk ...

Advantages: NOT OVEREXPENSIVE Disadvantages: HEAVY HANDED DOOR ATTENDANTS
NICE CLUB, GOOD MUSIC, NOT TOO EXPENSIVE FOR DRINKS ALTHOUGH THE 7.50 PRICE TAG AT THE DOOR ON A SAT, NIGHT IS NOT WORTH IT. LOTS OF STUDENTS FREQUENT THE CLUB. WE FOUND THEM TO BE UNFRIENDLY AND ARROGANT TYPES. ABSOLUTELY FULL OF THEMSELVES AND NOT TOO GOOD AT HOLDING THEIR LIQUOR. FOR SMOKERS THIS CLUB HAS NO AMENITIES. YOU HAVE TO GO OUTSIDE THE MAIN SECURITY GATES AT THE TOP OF THE ROAD, NO STANDING OUTSIDE WHICH ISN'T IDEAL.. THE DOORMEN ARE ... ...THE POLICE FOR MANHANDLING ME IN THE CLUB. VERY THREATENING BEHAVIOUR WHICH IS UNNACEPTABLE CONSIDERING I WAS A WOMAN OF 5FT 2INCHES TALL AND HE WAS AOUND 6 FOOT AND BUILT LIKE THE SIDE OF A WALL.. TRIED TO MAKE ME LEAVE WITHOUT MY FRIEND WHO WAS RETRIEVING OUR COATS FROM THE CLOAKROOM. NOT IDEAL IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER IN A STRANGE TOWN WITH NOTHING BUT A SATIN EVENING TOP ON! I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND. GLASGOW IS MUCH FRIENDLIER AND SO MUCH FUN COMPARED ...

Advantages: Its free! Disadvantages: Leave your dog at home
a "suggested" donations with figures for adults and kids which always annoys me. Whynot just come right out and ask for the money? Anyway, walk past the woman at the desk with your head held high and think of all the tax you pay...
There is a large pond outside too with swans and rubbish ducks who get fed so often they aren't too hungry for bread. There are even more swans in Inverleith Park over the road although the newspaper tells me that the model boat club are going to get rid of the swans as they can't play with their boats because of them. (Its a strange world we live in). Stick to the squirrels, they are much more fun. You get a great view of the city from Inverleith Park - so its worth a visit for that while you are there.
They have recently refurbished a lot of the garden and extended the waterfall. The rock garden has loads ...
Advantages: Unpretentious image, tasty food Disadvantages: Depends on the particular franchise you visit as to quality
Did you know that this year the humble burger restaurant Wimpy is celebrating it?s 50th year in business? You may not want to know or care but for those who do here are a few facts about Wimpy and some of my memories thrown in for good measure too!
Some facts:
Wimpy was originally created in the 1930s by an American called Eddie Gold. Apparently he named the restaurant after the J Wellington Wimpy character in the Popeye cartoons. By the 1950's there were 12 Wimpy restaurants running and their brand was bought up by J Lyons & Co in England. Their chain (Lyons Corner Houses) were English tea rooms popular with the working classes. Lyons licensed the ?Wimpy Bar? and in 1954 the first one appeared as a special fast food section of the Lyons tea rooms. They were so successful that it eventually led to separate Wimpy ...
Advantages: Something you can't do anywhere else!! Incredible experience . Disadvantages: Cold, dark and scary ;-) Can't take photos below ground
knowledgeable and are keen to answer peoples questions on the glow worms and the history of the caves themselves. Our lesson complete and we are dragged back up the tunnel to where we entered the freezing water. We are forced to throw our tubes back up the rock wall that we had jumped from.
Errr wait a minute....no floatation device???? Now we're walking, wading and even swimming down the cave. The centre of the channel is so deep that you can't even touch the bottom. This is beyond my wildest dreams, adventure sporting at its best. We proceed down the cavern and swim through further caverns with low ceilings. The thought of what would happen in a flash flood is in the back of your mind. The water shallows and we haul ourselves up and walk down yet another tunnel, taking care not to trip on the uneven surface. Our guides stop to show us ...
