startling imagery and inspired set pieces. Based on a Barry Gifford novel, the film stars Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern as lovers on the lam whose relationship is tested and who meet some truly dangerous wackos (including an almost-simian Willem Dafoe). Lynch's thoughts seem to be everywhere, and he expects the audience to keep up with a story that seems more a collection of avant-garde whims than a coherent vision with the intuitive brilliance of his Blue Velvet. Cage gives one of his more chaotic performances, but then he was just reading Lynch's signposts. --Tom Keogh

...This city has much to offer the visitor and local alike.Situated on the glorious river Tamar and the sea, with its back to the wilds of Dartmoor it has countryside suited to all tastes. Plymouth suffered severe bombing during the war, whilst much history was lost it was replaced by good roads and out of city parking. The shops are modern and comprehensive in the centre. History is still avaialable in the barbican area, although this area is not for the faint hearted on a late friday or sat night. Attractions include our own Dome, The national marine aquarium, A lighthouse to climb, the very best in regional Theatre and cinima....

Advantages: Great music, cheap drinks Disadvantages: warehouse
...Cream - the most famous thing in Liverpool after the Beatles. A definate night out for all with 3 different rooms playing dance, cheese and alternative music it provides a great night out for all. Medication on a wednesday has to be the best student night in Liverpool with cheap drinks and great music lasting through the night. Weekends are the best with some top dj's doing their thing on the decks and driving the crowd wild. Although situated in a big warehouse it is not quite what you expect you are guaranteed a top night out where you will dance your heart away and most likely get absolutely laggered. The theme nights tend to be popular as well, most recently doctors and nurses.....need i say more!!!...

Advantages: Great city centre and some nice nightspots Disadvantages: Can get crowded and has its rougher edges
...Birmingham is the second city of England, but in many circles has a bad reputation which is largely undeserved. Facing the dubious honour of being neither North nor South but truly Midlands territory, the city centre has been dramatically improved in the recent era. For a start, there are the magnificent facilities such as the international convention centre (ICC) and the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) a little way out of town. Also, there is a marvellous jewellery quarter in Hockley, on the way to Smethwick when on the way out of the town centre, which is worth an afternoon of anyone’s shopping time. Nightlife is famous and varied, from trendy clubs like Bakers and the Steering Wheel worth a look if you are on the look for a wild night out, to classy restaurant, hotels and brasseries which can be found on Broad Street....
